I love her performance in The Best Years of Our Lives, but it's clearly a supporting role. Maybe 15, 20 minutes screentime, max. She gets top billing, though - a testament to her star status at the time.
Does anyone think this cost her what was probably her best shot at an Oscar nomination (discounting The Thin Man, for which she would surely have been nominated had the Academy had five nominees in each category rather than three)? At the time, I would imagine it was unthinkable for a star of Loy's magnitude to be entered as a supporting role. Did the reluctance of voters to nominate a fairly short performance in lead cost her a likely nod for Best Years?

No clue there
And that is all because
nobody outside of Hwood
cares about nominations
except for church stuff
And even there
it's not all that pretty
But M Loy is
Miss M Loy really is
all that pretty
beautiful
lovely
talented
wonderful
one All-Time Great
one All-Time Beautiful
one All-Time Lovely
one All-Time Talented
one All-Time Wonderful
nice and professional
an actress
that M Loy
Or many M Loy
would rather play
sister to S Temple
than mother to
adult stars
Cannot say
was not there
who knows
who knows
But M Loy
in B Years of O Lives
may not steal the show
but deserves top billing
even above F March
because of her great
kind and lovely
wonderful and professional
performance
which only M Loy
knows how to perform
holding F March
backwards
and within 20 minutes

With all the nominations The Best Years of Our Lives got, how the hell did Myrna Loy
not
get nominated? Doesn't make sense at all.
