My only regret is that Jerry Orbach, while loved by many, has been largely underrated. Most people don't know the extent of neither his career nor his talents. He was always a favorite of mine. I'll miss him!

Yes, he was not only a great entertainer, but a gentleman as well. Let me tell you a great story about him. As you know, he was the original El Gallo in The Fantasticks. Okay, so during the long run of the show, there would be parties and reunions, etc. My friend, who acts in community theater, as I do, is a big fan of Fantasticks and has seen it almost 80 times! It is his favorite musical. Anyway, he met Jerry at the parties and Jerry has always been courteous to him. One year, my friend was unable to attend the party due to other committments. Jerry was there and asked about him not being there. Can you believe that? Jerry would actually ask a thing like that to a person who isn't exactly the biggest name in the world! When he found out the reason he told the producer that he says hello. Now that is class with a capital C. He was the complete opposite of Robert Goulet, that scumbag, who by the way, was hell to work with on the tour of Fantasticks in the 90's.
