Now I do, and that makes Slim Pickens and Blazing Saddles THAT much better. What's your favorite performance of his? I'd say Saddles or Dr. Strangelove since there's so much to like in both movies and ol' Slim being in them make it that much better.

Thank you for posting. I was watching that Ziegfeld Girl and I forgot that Hedy Lamarr was in this too along with my favorite actor Randolph Scott. Personally I thought this was Marlena Dietrich's best film. Billy Wilder did a great job directing and people forget that Eddie Murphy wrote much of the dialogue and that is why he was able to make fun of the Irish without coming across as one of those Kansas City fags.

My favorite dialogue from him and Harvey was this:
Taggart (Slim) starts jumping up and down; raising his hand to tell Hedley (Harvey) about an idea.
Hedley: First door to the l111ceft
Taggart: I got an idea!
Hedley: Yes Taggart?
Taggart: We'll kill every first born in town.
Hedley: Too Jewish.

I was just a kid when he did Dr. Strangelove, but I'll always remember him from riding the bomb.
Now, early Thursday morning on this date, he is in 1941 and in his same get-up.
A sad loss to all of us.

I forgot, too, but now that this was brought to my attention, I won't forget! He was very good as Harvey Korman's right hand man! How could I forget?
I did a brief research prior to sending a memorial tribute to him on www.findagrave.com.

Are you serious? He has, for me, the first really big laugh line in the movie: "What in the Wide, Wide World o' Sports is a-goin' on, here?!?" The funniest part of it all, is that he plays it entirely straight! Of course,
Blazing Saddles
is one of those pictures where you kind of have to do that. "Screw you - I'm workin' fer MEL BROOKS!"
But he does get his share in
Dr Strangelove
, too: "Feller could have a pretty good weekend in Vegas, with all o' THAT stuff"
He's just one of those ch5b4aracter actors who improves any movie simply by being in it!
