Slim had the unusual gift to have you rolling with laughter one second, then shaking with fear the next. Look at some of his appearances on "Gunsmoke", particularly the two-parter "The River". He also does this in a role on "Baretta". There are even some scenes in
Blazing Saddles
where he displays this quality.
