Where Are All The Blu-Rays Of Ginger's TV/Movies & Movies? (For Region 1?)
So far, I have only seen three of Ginger's performances that are available for purchase on Blu-Ray through Amazon and TCM, ETC
1933 - "
42nd Street
"
1946 - "
Magnificent Doll
"
1953 - "
Forever Female
"
That is a shockingly low number, considering this is 2016, and the next generation of Blu-Rays, 4K UHD format, is also now on the market.
Plus I read an article, not more than a few months ago, that was dated at least five years before that, which noted that Blu-Rays were in the works for her movies with Fred Astaire And yet, these 10 more "famous" films, for which she is "mostly known", have yet to show up on the market
The three movies listed above, seem like odd choices for the only Blu-Rays being available
1952 - "
Monkey Business
" Also stars Cary Grant & Marilyn Monroe.
Marilyn Monroe, who is clearly a money maker when it comes to merchandise, had her face plastered all over the DVD and yes, I KNOW, it was for part of a Marilyn Monroe "Collection" But images of Ginger, who was the star of the film, is nowhere to be seen anywhere on the cover, not even on the back! Other consumers have noticed this, and thought it odd
So, if a movie that has Marilyn Monroe in it, is not even available on Blu-Ray, then what hope is there for any movies with "
that actress
" who starred in all those "
Fred Astaire Films
"?
Please don't take that sentence the wrong way!
I ADORE Ginger and she
IS
my favorite actress, and I KNOW she deserves better recognition than that! But, unfortunately, that is how she seems to be mostly known today, by the modern movie industry and viewing audiences for some strange reason
??
. I
sickenly
said that, only to make a point.
Now for me, I own all FOUR of these films on DVD. I also have many of the other DVDs that are available, and I am still working to complete my collection on what is available for purchase However, There are almost 2 dozen DVDs of her films that have yet to be released, that I am still waiting for though I am not sure what the holdup is with those are
Personally, I am very happy with all of the DVD versions of her films that I have, and I have no real reason to "Upgrade" to Blu-Ray versions But, I am sure, MANY others would like to own the Blu-Ray versions of her films
I have noticed that it seems there are also many other films from the Classic Hollywood era, that are having trouble getting out on Blu-Ray So I am forced to believe this lack of Blu-Ray media has nothing to do with Ginger.
So, is there some reason for this? Perhaps not enough demand for older films?, Or Technical Issues? (Such as Restoration?)
Sadly, it seems to me, that if the more famous movies and legendary stars, considered by today's movie industry and viewing audiences, are still in QUE for Blu-Ray releases
I guess we should be grateful, that we have
SO MANY
of those films, even on on DVD, which starred "
that actress
" who starred in all those "
Fred Astaire Films
" I suppose it could be worse!
But, all this concerns me. What does all this mean for the future of Ginger's movies?

heck, just 'clean' copies of some of these without skips would be nice
I know.
I have two copies of "A Shriek In The Night". The first one came on one of those cheapo 50 Horror Classic collections. I thought buying the movie separately might improve the quality. I was wrongit's worse. (Spent more, got less). I think a newer product is now being sold, but I have my doubts about it's quality.
In some cases it's like the original "Night Of The Living Dead". I think there were something like 20 DVDs, from various companies, and all had varying video quality. Most of which were poor. It was like playing the lottery, on what you would get. It wasn't until a 40th Anniversary Edition 5b4came out in 2008 "Authorized By George A. Romero himself" which was restored and remastered that there was finally a version that was a high quality copy.
Some of the more notable ones needed on DVD are - Sitting Pretty, Broadway Bad, Twenty Million Sweethearts, In Person, and Lady in the Dark.
I would like most of those too I mean ALL!

haven't been too many 'recent' DVD offerings for GingerFilms there are still quite a few which need a good washing and then offered to the public of course, Hat Check Girl is the one we ALL are looking for on DVD at least it is 'accounted for', which accounts for ALL of her films available (in some form or fashion), save for a few 'shorts' she did at the start of her career which is really pretty great, considering how many films from the 30s (especially early 30s) have been declared 'lost'
Some of the more notable ones needed on DVD are - Sitting Pretty, Broadway Bad, Twenty Million Sweethearts, In Person, and Lady in the Dark. But overall, Ginger is pretty well represented in the available DVD market of course I would like to see ALL of her films available, and in Blu-ray if possible (although I currently do not have a Blu-ray playe5b4r heck, just 'clean' copies of some of these without skips would be nice
