so of course HBO played the full series, all ten episodes, beginning at 4 a.m. Pacific time this past D-Day, June 6, 2014, the 70th Anniversary.
First episode, David Schwimmer, front and center as the evil Captain Sobel, Easy Company's 1st Stateside Commander.
I can't think of anyone else playing that dramatic role, let alone an actor rooted in Comedy - FRIENDS.
But David was the BEST. Should have received an Emmy Award for Best Actor in a Dramatic Series - at least for that 1st Episode. Sure, Damien Lewis made that series and rightly so but Schwimmer was the starkly white flair in a midnight sky that blinded everyone else. the focus was on David - solely - in that episode.
I come from a large and long military family going back many wars and myself have seen heavy combat. So I know exactly what David was playing and how he played it. Only knew one lousy Officer - all the rest were outstanding or GREAT. And David captured the essence of a bad officer during the training part of military service. Thank God Sobel never led in combat.
and that Sobel yell, "Hi HO Silver" was freakin perfect.
