I have to be fairI liked Halle in Monster's Ball, but Sissy was better, and I'm a Black man. This came down to Halle being number two, and Sissy already having won for Coalminer's Daughterit was that simple. In regards to Cicely, either she or Diana Ross should've won instead of Liza Minnelli.

The acting in Monster's Ball was good but I really didn't like the movie.

I'm glad you are not throwing out the racist card but did we see the same movie? Firstly, Berry winning for Monster's Ball was a joke. Sissy Spacek should have won. Also Tyson did not deserve to win for Sounder, the nomination was the prize to be fair she wasn't exactly a typical Best Actress candidate as the film isn't about her really at all, she isn't the films lead and should have been nominated in supporting. Also I understand subtle acting and appreciate it greater than the OTT mess of performances such as Berry's Oscar winning role but there was absolutely no meat to her role, no scenes exactly worthy of an Oscar I mean she was just kind of there (I guess she had the grocery scene but that is about it, I was expecting more

IMO she deserved the Oscar for "Sounder" but the Academy seems to shy away from nominating and giving black actresses Oscars. I'm not saying they're racist but one does wonder

I agree, she has done some great roles. She acted, there are even that many cuts in the scene. Now adays its every other second, so we can't relaly gauge a person's talent.
