I was so pleased to see Rachel Ward appear in the PBS Pioneers of TV, Mini-Series recently.
I was so sad and sorry though to hear her discuss that she had gotten bad reviews for her acting in the day and how it affected it so badly. I had no idea. I absolutely loved her in Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid, The Thornbirds and Against All Odds. I couldn't understand why I didn't see her after those. I just figured that she just settled down with Bryan Brown and decided to raise a family instead.
There are so many wonderful and popular actors who are undeservedly criticized by those critics and it's a shame when it drives them out of the industry. The fans lose.
