It's common for actresses to shave years off their true age. In the early 1990s Marina Sirtis had her birth year as 1962 during Star Trek, much later we found out it was actually 1955.

Yes, she was born in 1973. I was born Feb. of 73 and I grew up watching family ties and I remember thinking it was cool that we where the same age. I also watched Who's the Boss and loved Alyssa Milano, but she's a year older.

She was in a film in 1982 called "Shoot the Moon", and she is very little.
Can't be more than 7 or 8 at the time of filming.
Certainly isn't 13 or 14.
So 1973 is correct.

And no, posters, she did not start 'Family Ties' at 16.
I just heard a tape of her on the Howard Stern show. She said she was 8 when 'Family Ties' started and 16 when it ended. So, yes, she WAS born in 1973.

The original poster obviously had never seen "Family Ties", or at least its early episodes. It's really sad when people watch some reality shows or retrospectives on VH-1 and think they know about old TV shows and actors, without knowing a thing about the source material.

Family Ties actually did end in 1989, and Tina was 16 that year.

1973 is accurate. I was born in 1969, and remember Family Ties well. There is no way that she was 14 in 1982. I realize girls mature at different intervals, but she looked way too young to be 14 in 1982.
