A wonderful actress. She gave such a heartrending performance in, 'Red Sky at Morning'. She is so natural, without affectations. And she has the elegance to match.
"You stupid, clumsy labouring boy". Great Expectations (1946)

Misjudgements in personal life do not make her a bad actress. She's a classy and elegant professional and her private life has nothing to do with it.
As the saying goes the time to make up your mind about people is never

It's true, Mark.
Roth made her choose between him and her daughter, and she sent the girl away.
Of course, Roth was (and maybe still is) a megalomaniac, but that's no excuse for Bloom's actions.
BTW, there is an episode on LAW & ORDER that is loosely based on their relationship. I don't1c84 know the title, but actor Robert Foxworth played the "Philip Roth" surrogate.
DAMN SPELL CHECK!

Class, huh?
This was a woman who abandoned her then 8-year old daughter because she was smitten with author Philip Roth who didn't want the kid around.
Some class!
If my mother did that to me, I'd NEVER forgive her. Ever!
