She gave such a heart-rending performance in Red Sky at Morning; an endearing coming-of-age movie and simply one of the best of this genre. Who can ever forget the scene where she repeatedly slaps her son's (Richard Thomas) face, demanding that he "Apologise!" for his (perceived) slight to her moral virtue; such an incredibly moving scene with a strong emotional resonance. A wholly credible and memorable performance.
You can't hold a candle to Gulbenkian.
