The big budget all-star end-of-the-world film Virus is quite good. Just make sure to see the better and longer original Japanese version of that one.
You've seen Guy Standeven in something because the man was in everything.

I'm guessing you folks are all American but in England there are two Sonny Chiba box sets with 3 films each in that are worth getting. Very good quality and subtitled rather than dubbed.
Vol 1 has Yakuza Deka, which is silly and it's slightly better sequel Yakuza Deka: The Assassin, in which he wears quite a few magnificent hats. He plays an undercover cop taking out gangs in these. They're kind of comic book style films. The Killing Machine is quite a good film and I'm guessing the title is to lure in western viewers as it doesn't really suit the film. He's a chap who goes around getting angry and helping people out, occasionally beating people up.
Vol 2 has Golgo 13, Bullet Train and GI Samurai. This set is a lot better than the first. Bullet Train is meant to be the inspiration for Speed and although Sonny Chiba isn't in it that much (he's the driver) it's a really god film. GI Samurai is just mental - a bunch of soldiers get time warped back to samurai times and help fight a war and Golgo 13 is only alright.
Both sets are worth getting if you can. They show a few different sides of Sonny Chiba.

If you liked the streetfighter films check out the Killing Machine (Shorinji Kempo). Although Chiba did act in Japanese Marital Arts films, he also acted in non-martial arts films and is quite a good actor at that.

I have The 10 Faces of Sonny Chiba and that's what got me into Chiba. The Street Fighter movies are awesome. I ordered the Bluray double feature Killing Machine (aka Shorinji Kenpo)/Shogun's Ninja. I got it just for Killing Machine since Shogun's Ninja is in the 10 pack.
I have to get the Sonny Chiba Matsutatsu Oyama Trilogy someday.

I'm so very surprised no one mentioned SENGOKU JIETAI aka G.I. SAMURAI aka TIME SLIP.
I watched it expecting to be a trash b-movie flick. Who wouldn't? I mean - G.I. Samurai? Not only it is definitely not a trash b-action movie (which I also like, btw) but it's the complete opposite. I was simply amazed by all the performances, especially Chiba's, of course. The character development is excellent. Even the special effects are pretty awesome for the time it was made. And it had very powerful and emotional ending.
To me it is his best work, and on the of the best movies I've seen in my life.
I have to also mention The Street Fighter which was pure awesome power!
Unfortunately that's the only one I will probably see, because I can't seem to find the sequels subtitled, and not dubbed. One thing I hate more than censorship, it's the fuc*ing dubbing. Isn't it simpler just to write a few lines of subtitles, than to hire (lame) voice actors, a recording studio and then ruin the movie with horrendous dubbing? They can't even tell Tsurugi's name right - one lame voice actor calls him Suguri, the other lame voice actor calls him Tsukuri. Dubbing should be prohibited by law!

While he wasn't the MAIN character, he did a great job in Stormriders. Not to mention, that movie IS pretty cool.

Deffinitely.. other than Hirono, Otomo was the best character in that movie, but then again that whole series is one of the greatest series of all time.
anyways
Noones brought 4 awesome chiba movies and im amazed
1 Karate bear fighter
2 karate bull fighter
3 Yokohama Underworld: The Machine-Gun Dragon( bunta sugawara) is my favorite japanese actor so that makes this one even better)
4 Memoir of Japanese Assassins (also with bunta sugawara)
I like them all but those 4 are deffinite favorites and im a much bigger yakuza fan than karate so thats why the little bias towards the 3rd film.
hope it helps a little

I think one of his best, but most overlooked performances was in "Deadly Battle in Hiroshima", the second film of the Yakuza Papers series Battles without Honour and Humanity.
Chiba has mentioned that he thinks he performed best when being directed by Kinji Fukasaku, who also directed The Yagyu Clan Conspiracy.
