For me, City of the Living Dead. I had just really gotten into collecting horror films and I wanted to find more zombie films with "of the living dead" in the title. Did a random search and City popped up. I bought it, and then watched a great film! Hell, that is also the movie that started my collecting of Italian horror films, and eventually other horror films from over the world!
I now have the following Fulci films in my collection:
Massacre Time
Perversion Story
Lizard in a Woman's Skin
The Eroticist
Don't Torture a Duckling
Four of the Apocalypse
The Psychic
Zombi 2
Contraband
City of the Living Dead
The Black Cat
The Beyond
House by the Cemetery
New York Ripper
Manhattan Baby
Murder-Rock
Touch of Death
Zombi 3
Sweet House of Horrors
House of Clocks
Cat in the Brain
Also have the soundtracks to Perversion Story, Zombi 2, City of the Living Dead, The Beyond, and House by the Cemetery. Also got some badass t-shirts. Yeah, I'm a fan! I will get more haha.
Fulci Lives!

City was on the same pirate VHS as Wolf with Jack Nicholson, I kinda just skipped through it. But Zombie was the one I really watched from start to finish.

Sette note in nero
which is actually the only movie of his I ever rated above a 5/10 (a 7 to be exact).
That said, I've felt compelled to keep looking for his films, perhaps it's his cheesiness that draws me, or his admittedly interesting, over the top stories, however poorly they were filmed.

The first one I saw was one of ones legally available here in Germany, I think it was
The Beyond
,
City of the living dead
and
New York Ripper
are banned in their uncut versions here.
Now I own:
Zombi 2 (Bluray/DVD/VHS)
The Beyond (Bluray/DVD)
City of the living dead (Bluray/DVD)
House by the cemetery (Bluray/DVD)
Zombi 3 (DVD/VHS)

ZOMBI 2 was my intro too, coming right off DAWN OF THE DEAD and hungry for more Zombie action! ZOMBI 2 did not disappoint, and I was blown away by how realistic and over the top the gore was. It totally got me hooked on Italian movies in general.
Afterward I was quite disappointed by CITY OF THE LIVING 2000DEAD and even more-so by HOUSE BY THE CEMETERY. THE BEYOND I found a lot more watchable but not until the end did I see much zombie action I had come for.
Once I grew to appreciate his style, I watched CONTRABAND, NEW YORK RIPPER, and CONQUEST all tremendously entertaining films and proudly displayed in my library. DON'T TORTURE A DUCKLING and MASSACRE TIME were good too.
However, after getting burned watching too many of his late 80's efforts, I stopped bothering to seek out any more of his work. CAT IN THE BRAIN especially was quite torturous. This was all in the mid-to-late 90's when it was very hard to locate these films.

It was Zombie for me. I got my dad to rent it for me when I was 9. I wanted to watch it just because of the cover alone. I enjoyed it and ended up renting The Gates Of Hell (City Of The Living Dead)a few years later since it was also directed by Fulci. That film scared me like no other film has.

Yeah, Zombie it was for me. My sister's boyfriend wanted to go see this late-night movie and I went with them. My sister was grossed out and went over to watch something else at the same theater. But I stayed and loved it, although I thought the music was somehow a bit inappropriate. The movie haunted me and disturbed me for a while afterwords.
Didn't know much about Fulci apart from the occasional Fangoria magazine article. But eventually I went to see more like Gates of Hell and House By The Cemetery which was the last Fulci film I saw in a theater.

For me everything started with his Gialli's! I loved "A Lizard in a Woman Skin"(1971), "Don't Torture a Duckling"(1972) and "One on the Top of the Other"(1969).
Their plots, twists, cast, and use of sets and cinematography, and of the immense Morricone's scores, haunted me for the rest of my life of cinephile.
For me he's always been way superior, way more stylish, and somewhat more curious/surprising to watch, than Argento!
Argento had bigger budgets, mainstream cast and crews, but some of his films, especially, those after "Suspiria", had always somewhat disappointed me,especially for their lack of a personal style, and for a visual flatness,so way too typical of the 1980's mainstream.
Goi1c84ng back to Fulci: after having watched all of his different genres, and,of course, all Horrors(was ecstatic by the on set SFX's, for me, even today, some of the best.. and never aged) I just got hooked to his amazing eye for one of the most significant, innovative filmmaking that distinguished him always in the B underground cinema and that,i believe, he owed and kept almost intact, even when making lurid films on commission, with budgets that would have not permitted others, like Argento, let's say(but many Americans, too, especially!) to make anything even merely watchable.
My opinion!
