<p dir="auto">I think that is a standout performance from him.  He and Mirren both steal the show in that film.<br />
I also think he is good in "The Singing Detective" as well.<br />
Great that he loves cars and engineering as well.  His other appearances are on HIGNFY, Room 101 and Top Gear are funny.</p>

<p dir="auto">I loved The Cook, The Thief too.  It's a hard film to like, but I've sat through it more than once (being American, I had a lot of catching up to do with accents and so on) with a most bizarre ending and plenty of grotesquerie and horror in the details.  But the music, the food, Helen Mirren eating asparagus, lovers reading books, a certain operatic quality  strong stuff.</p>
