I have a friend who claimed to have met her on the street. Can anyone confirm that she did live in NYC in the early 1980s .

I saw her on a "whatever happened to" special in the early 80s and she mentioned living in Gramercy Park. The camera showed a section of her neighborhood and it looked like a nice quiet area, sort of like a place I'd like to retire to.

Yes, she lived near Gramercy Park. It's ironic that you mention that, because every time I walk through that area, I think about where she might have lived, being a big fan, not only of "Oz", but her other film and TV work. She wrote a response to a fan letter to my sister in the 1970's and indicated that's where she lived, although she was known to tour in a ton of plays during that time, only on occasion doing movies or TV, more often episodic television in Hollywood. She was on the road for a very long time for the touring company of "A Little Night Music". It's a very pretty neighborhood, tucked away from the noisy Union Square, and is beautifully decorated at Christmas time.
