I thought I read someplace about her being black, or part black. Is this true? I thought she had a great tan, but if she's part black, that explains her skin tone.
If you're one of those people who's going to say "it doesn't matter what color she is", or "you're a bigot", then save it. OK?

The Sicilian part of the cookbook is from her husband E.Duke Vincent. He's the one with the Sicilian ancestry. So there goes your theory about why you think her skin tone is darker. LOL

Wrong. The Moors16d0 are not from South Africa. Try North Africa.
And the Sicilian /Italian population did not 'mix' with the Moors but fought bravely to resist the African hordes. Stories and plays to this day celebrate the Italian resistance to the Muslims.

If she in fact has some Sicilian heritage then that could explain it. Because Sicily is an island, many mainland Italians don't consider Sicilians as Italians (something that I don't subscribe to).
Sicily has had a very interesting racial makeup including Greek, Arab and even the Moors from South Africa. Obviously some families are mixed, and skin 238tones are generally darker than mainland Italians.

Nope, She's Jewish from her deeply tanned (and blonde) mom's side, Scottish-English from dad. This is info from her highly-recommended Jewish-Sicilian Cookbook.
