I had seen the Kurt Russell Disney movies years before I saw Batman and never knew the Joker was the villain from those films.
I think the earliest I saw Burgess Meredith was SST: Death Flight and never grasped he was the Penguin either.
But I finally saw a program about the sixties Batman and I guess the villains appeared, or the actors did, and spoke about their roles, I think Lee Meriwether and EArtha Kitt appeared, Julie Newmar may have, but then it showed Romero, there he was, delivering the Joker voice and laugh. I sat stunned. It was that calm-talking bad guy from the Disney films.
