I am so happy to find he is still with us, I loveeeee his music! I guess because he retired during his prime back in the 80's and I never heard anything from him anymore, it was like he fell off the face of the Earth. I just looked him up tonight because I wanted to know what had killed some of my favorite singers like Gordon :o), Tammy Wynette, Jim Croce etc. Gordon is one of the greatest singers EVER! I guess I have new music I've never heard from him to look up. I'm sooo excited!

but I also recall they said NOTHING, when he was okay later and released.

I do remember a few years ago I received a breaking news alert that said G. Lightfoot had died, and then a few hours later a correction saying the news was a mistake and Mr. Lightfoot did not die.
