Unlike some of the previous episodes, this episode wasn't parodying any one specific documentary or band. As others have mentioned it was a little bit of The Eagles, a little bit of Chicago, the music sounded a little like Steely Dan, the only releasing one album thing was a little reminiscent of Willis Alan Ramsey etc etc.
I like that they're not completely bound by the concept of parodying specific documentaries. It's just as fun when they just make something up.

I was only a little down on the Al Capone episode, but I don't really think it was meant to be as laugh out loud funny as the others. I enjoyed the fun weird vibe though and found it cute, but missed Hader.
The other episodes had me laughing throughout and I basically binged the whole thing in two days. Fun stuff! 🙂

  • Blue Jean Committee season finale episode made up for all the lame ones.

Thanks, Talory. She is not listed in the credits at the end of the episode and I didn't recognize the actress. I actually contributed a number of the credits and trivia for this episode.

I think Mirren is absolutely perfect for the fake gravitas of a pretentious documentary series celebrating its fiftieth anniversary.

Absolutely! Though thankfully it's on Netflix now. That will introduce the show to a larger audience. Sandy Passage should be required viewing for all comedy fans.

They did such a great job! It's hard to tell the doc from the mock! They were both funny and a little creepy. Lol

    This slayed me.
Just getting caught up now that it's on Netflix, but holy carp. Brilliant comedy. I lost it the moment Bill Hader (Little Vivvy) appeared wearing sweatpants (a cover with a built in scarf!) on his head.
