Christ, why would you name your dog Hodgkins? I get that it'd be to celebrate survival, but it would be a constant reminder of the pain of the disease as well as the survival.

He announced he was leaving 7th Heaven months before he was diagnosed. I think it was December 2001 he said he wanted to step out of the role and focus on movie roles instead, but of course the diagnosis wrecked his plans. But he would have left anyway.

If you watch the episode where he comes backI am thinking it's at Lucy's Weddingyou'll see how sick he looked.
He just looks completely different.
It is sad to see how bad off he must have beenhe was handsome in the episode, but you could tell he had been ill. -

I had Hodgkin's Lymphoma. He was sick at the same time I was, and because it has been 5 years since our illnesses, he should be considered cured. But, you never know if it will come back, it's a constant fear.
It does not primarily hit men. I know more women than men that have had it. But it supposedly hit between 15-35 and then 75 and up. They haven't figured out the cause to it, yet. But there is a very high survival rate, even if you get it a second time (like I did).
I hope he never gets it back. And I totally understand why he named his dog that. It's not just a painful illness. It's a journey. One that makes you stronger. -

People deal with things differently. Some find painful past experiences to be a motivator, some would rather forget.
I've known a few people who I am very close to who have had cancer. I can't talk about itand I'm not even a cancer survivor myself. I just cannnot stand to think about and remember the No. Can't even think about it.
I understand the dog-naming thing. It could remind someone that they're tough enough to survive one 5b4of the worst things imaginable. I wouldn't do it myself, but I understand.
omg I had no idea. I hope it doesn't come back
