Okay I admit House of Saddam is my first Shohreh Aghdashloo movie well mini-series and I LOVE her she's a fab actress but anyway am I the only one that thinks she sounds at least a little like Jeanne Moreau (the older lady from Ever After is the only role I can ever think of that she played in English though she's done quite a bit in French movies so I hear)

I have never seen that movie, but she does have one of those very distinct voices that you recognize. I love her voice because it is one that gets peoples attention. She could never play a stupid person or a dumb person because of that voice, it sounds too smart. Demi Moore, Lauren Becall and many others have distinct voices too.

Funny how I was gonna start a thread about her sexy voice.and it's already here. Hahaha nice to know I'm not the only one who thinks this.
Wow!
Great actress too.
I love everything she's been in.

I sure seem to be in the minority here. I'd never attack the actress, as I believe she does a fine job I just find her voice irritating, bordering on grating.
I agree, however, it is incredibly distinctive. I am watching an episode of Bones and I'm paying more attention to my phone than the episode until I hear that voice. "That's the lady from 24" I can picture her saying "Behrooz" over and over. I've seen her in a couple other things as well House, I believe, for one. Neve fails to catch me off guard and stand out. -

I don't like her voice, either.
It's almost like she learned English phonetically. Her pronunciations are friggin' out there sometimes.
Watching The Expanse as I'm typing this, and I've never really noticed the gravelly nature of her voice, but after reading other people saying she sounds like a smoker, I believe that. It's another layer of why I don't understand how she continues to get roles. Maybe directors/casters like her unique sound, but every time I hear her talk it always sounds uncomfortable or in a sense, a little mushy.
Take me where I cannot stand. -

Watching The Expanse and I must admit that I don't like the scenes with her in mainly due to the voice. It almost hurts to hear her speak. How people find that sexy is beyond me. Would there be a synced version of it with my first I'd rather watch that.

I completely agree with you. I was listening to the Sisterhood movie and I heard her voice and I was like what the? So I went in search of the actress, because i thought that she was, in fact the same person as the Grand Dame in Ever After only to find them two different people. I'm baffled.
And I was shocked to see this thread -

I LOOOVE her voice! If sex had a voice, I think it would sound like her. Her voice is like a combination of whiskey and honey warmed to perfection topped off by a cigarette after a night of passionate lovemaking by candlelight. Mmmmm.

this is so true, she sounds like a heavy smoker, very distinctive voice, one could never forget..but i believe her voice is so coarse due to cigarette smoking, she sounds like shes always gasping for breath or may be an asthmatic

Maybe, maybe not. Hers is a classic "smoker's voice", but the same effect shows up after node surgery, or from chronic throat irritation, or sometimes just naturally (lucky folks!).
Check out any Bonnie Tyler video on YouTube. That rasp is post-surgical.
