I've read some of the other threads about how beautiful Holly is and at one time I would have totally agreed. I thought she was lovely in Soldier Soldier and a lot of the guys I worked with agreed that she was really easy on the eyes.
But I watched her in Casualty on Saturday night and at first I didn't even believe it was her, I had to check the credits at the end to see if her name was there. 1c84She sort of looked like Holly Aird, but much older. Boy has she aged a lot in a short space of time, she looked so weather beaten and haggard. Bad skin, suitcases under each eye, she looked 50 at least.
I thought I must have her age wrong as I was sure she was 37 like me, and her profile does confirm she was born in 1969.
I guess father time wasn't so kind. Shame really, I thought she would grow into a stunning older woman. Great actress though! -

Well, I missed Casualty (as in: I don't watch it and only found out later that she was in it), so I can't comment on that.
What I will say is that she is a great actress, as I just watched the Miss Marple (with Joan Hickson as MM) she was in and I couldn't even tell it was her. Not only a totally other character then Frankie in WTD, but also her different looks (which might explain the comments made by the original poster).
She had a much rounder (chubbier) face 15 years ago. I actually did a double take when I read the end credits.
She is one of those women who looks older then she is (I would have guessed her at late 20's in the Marple movie, whereas in fact she is in her very early 20's). In Waking the Dead I was also surprised to learn she was in her early 30's (though her spunky character did give you that suspicion).
At any rate, I think that Holly Aird looked beautiful 15 years ago and that she looked beautiful a few years back (in Waking the Dead). Different kind of beauty (classic beauty vs. tomboy) but both very appealing. -

Any fan who hasn't seen the sitcom Hope it rains with Holly Aird and Tom Bell should. She captures that melancholy of a luminous tomboyish beauty living in an English seaside not so dissimilar to Wish you were here also starring Bell.
