I just got back from meeting Elizabeth Anne Allen at Pages Bar (www.pagesbar.com), one of the several places shes visiting this week on her UK tour - and it was great
Elizabeth chatted very warmly and openly with us all, it was a select group of about twenty so we all got to speak to her on a very personal level. She looks lovely and was a very good speaker - joking, poking fun at herself, speaking animatedly about her career, her experiences on Buffy and about life in America.
Elizabeth was asked about her favourite cast-mates to work with and was very complimentary of Aly Hannigan saying they had a great chemistry, great friendship and she really loved her.
Elizabeth was also VERY complimentary of Sarah, when asked what the real Sarah was like said "Shes so positive, shes always a constant profession, she knows her script, she knows what shes doing, shes always happy to be there at work and shes great,". Elizabeth also commented on hoping to work with Tom Cruise in the future and David Boreanaz (Who she thinks is cute)
When asked about her relationship now with the cast, Elizabeth said it was very difficult to stay in touch because of everyones busy schedules and although she does see them from time to time at events, shes not really in touch with any of the immediate cast. But she did stress that thanks to them shes met a lot of people and developed a lot of close friends so shes very grateful to Buffy
Elizabeth took a year out recently and married her cinematographer boyfriend who she met, incidentally, through a blind date - her second blind date ever. She promotes them highly, of course, but told us about her horror story first blind date where they were SO incompatible.
Elizabeth told us about her nightmare audition where - after telling herb68 agent shed taken up roller-skating - was in an situation where she was in a room full of professional skaters and had to be twirled around by another male actor auditioning. Elizabeth flew towards the camera screaming, went home absolutely mortified and dead sure they wouldnt want anything to do with her again - but got the part! Apparently the character was meant to be very insecure and bad with skates so Elizabeth fitted it perfectly! The guy who twirled her around didnt get the part though
When asked what roles she wouldnt do, Elizabeth explained that her dad watched all of her work and therefore she wouldnt be comfortable doing an adult role like that of her friend Elizabeth Berkley in "Show Girls". But says she doesnt judge anyone on the roles they do and supports whatever decisions her actor friends make.
She told a story about Jack Nicholson when her friends met him at an event and found him not to be the most respectful of people! Thus shattering their illusions of him!
When asked what part shed most like to play on Buffy besides Amy, she instantly chose Drusilla. Elizabeth is an enormous Juliet Landau fan like myself and was praising Juliet extensively, saying she made Drusilla to be so likeable and great, yet so evil and morally wrong at the same time. Elizabeth said how she saw Juliet in a deli and went up to her singing her praises for ages - before introducing herself to a rather surprised Juliet.
Elizabeth said that when she was waitressing in a resturant in America after doing some episodes of Buffy, Tom Hanks and his children came in and Tom approached her and asked "Did you play a witch on Buffy? Can my children have your autograph?" Elizabeth was so shocked Tom Hanks was getting an autograph off her, she did not ask for him but decided then that if Tom Hanks knew her, it was time to stop being a waitress and devote herself fully to acting.
Elizabeth said shed love to work in Italy because shed never been there, would like to work on a sci-fi show but only if she had more involvement in her character, and said shed like to be on Angel but wouldnt sing. But if she had to, shed sing "Maneater"
Said that she wished her character could have been developed further and the audience get some understanding of what Amy did next but said "When Sarah decided shed had enough," the writers had to wrap up as many stories as possible.
We arrived late after being misinformed by the staff of Pages so missed the photo sessions. Luckily I spoke to Sean and he assured me hed get me photos and autographs and surely enough got Elizabeth over to me and my friend Chloe after her talk to chat. Elizabeth said an autograph for me, "Isie, all my best, Elizabeth Anne Allen [Amy]".
I got Elizabeth to sign my Buff5b4y yearbook and she poured over the pages excitedly, stopping on the outtake-ish picture of Sarah Michelle, Seth Green and Aly Hannigan from The Prom episode saying "Thats so great". When Sean commented on how successful Seth had become, Elizabeth said "Yeah, I love him,"
Elizabeth kindly signed autographs for my friend Chloe and some for people that Chloe knew, pausing on the third one to think of something to say. I asked her if it was difficult coming up with -

I'm on staff for the new DreamCon convention and Elizabeth was a featured guest last weekend and I got an opportunity to hang out with her along with Mercedes McNab (Harmony) and Jewel Staite (Kaylee from Firefly and Serenity) and Jewel's husband Matt. They were all very nice. Saturday night we hung out in the lounge talking for a bit and then we went to the VIP room. Elizabeth was very nice. She was making fun of one of our guest artist because he made an offhand comment and she kept bringing it up all that night, but it was all in fun.
I didn't see them, but I heard the panels she was part of were great. All three ladies were real sweethearts and we hope to see them come back to our con next year or sometime soon. -
