So in his bio it states that he uses his imposing figure, his temper and forcefullness to get roles? Gee, way to play into the stereotype that blacks are violent.
It pisses me off when stereotypes are associated with certain groups, and then those groups turn around and do exactly what the stereotype says.

Maybe I am crazy, but.his manly strong buildhas gotten him roles with some of the greatest actors in the business. In fact, MOST roles I have seen him play, he played as a STRONG MAN OF AUTHORITY! Be it a warden, a police officer, a general, or something that gives him the roll of putting things in control and being in control of the situation. An authoritative figure. If that's a "stereotype", then its sure hell is a POSITIVE one!

What are you implying? African Americans can't be strong and have a temper? Should all black people be peace loving hippies handing out daisies? Some African Americans, just like some of the entire population, have a temper, and use their imposing figure to get ahead. I may not agree with the strategy, but people choose themselves how they get ahead. There might be an old stereotype that links African Americans to violent and imposing attitudes, though I hardly think it is prominent; But even so, you cannot expect that all black people are supposed to go out of their way to avoid stereotypes, especially if the strategy works for them. I'm white and cant dance should I take dancing lessons as to not fit into some outdated, debunked, preposterous and barbaric stereotype?

Wow. Once again I find myself saying because ONE Black guy has a temper that means that the stereotype is true for TENS of MILLIONS of Black people who live in the world. So the HANDFUL of White guys who used to jump me and my friends back in the 80's and 90's. The ones who called us "ni&&3r" and beep (since I'm Black and Panamanian)those stereotypes of the MILLIONS of Whites who live here MUST be true. Thanks for clearing that up for me.

You do realize that just about anyone can contribute a bio? And what's in them is not necessarily true. And that that line is the writer's opinion not necessarily a truth?
Right?
That said, I've read the line your talking about and it seems to me that it describes the characters he's played not the man. Characters he played 40-50 years ago when black actors could only get roles that stereotyped them.
Also, the line that follows the one you're talking about reads, "He has found it a constant uphill battle to further himself in an industry that tends to diminish an actor's talents with severe and/or demeaning stereotypes and easy pigeonholing."
Did you miss that?
