John Landis was visually a kind of Kubrick of comedy. Really big sets and characters placed within those sets. They're not droll like in Anderson films but the visual quality and timing is very similar. Landis is an underrated director.

Landis was a terrific director of comedy and visual gags, and pretty much all of his films from the 70's thru into the early 90's worked.
I don't like Anderson and avoid his films he is even more outlandish than Landis ever was.
