Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Jim Beaver

I was shocked since Jim Beaver was effectively the replacement for Jeffery Dean Morgan. There really isn't anyone to replace him. They seem to be trying to bring in the sheriff but she's a weak character. It's been a depressing season since we lost Cass and Bobby and the car all in one season. The brothers seem to be the only surviving part of the first season, Cass was a later addition but a fixture of the show. It feels like CW is trying to wind down the series and plan for the end. They are obviously cutting budgets. If they go another season it will likely be the last but I think they want it to end this season. The move to Friday to make way for the teen dramas was the first move and even that didn't kill the series. If they cancel Supernatural after all they have done I strongly encourage everyone to avoid the network. Tired of quality shows getting canned to make way for cheaper teen slanted shows. I guess cable is the last option other than internet based shows that traditionally have no budget. Supernatural was my last must watch show on broadcast and they seem determined to kill it. I hope CW is happy with the teen crowd because that may be all they have left after this season.
Good luck to Jim Beaver and I hope he lands another good role. He was a huge part of Supernatural and he will be sorely missed. The network may not have appreciated him but the fans did and the show will never be the same without him! I had a lot of fun with tonight's episode but any drop in ratings is purely the network's fault. You can't kill off half the show and move it to one of the worst nights of the week and cut the budget, I'm guessing even getting rid of the car was a budget cutting measure, and expect the ratings to hold. Can that miserable Secret Circle series and bring Supernatural back to Thursdays where it belongs. I wish bringing back Cass and Booby were so easy but at least the car can be brought back.
In protest I'll only watch Supernatural on the WB and if they cancel it I'll never watch the network again. Fans need to stand up for quality shows to keep the networks from going all reality or all teen. It's amazing that the networks think we all die at 30. This attitude is why the broadcast networks are dying the death of a thousand cuts. There are a lot more viewers over 30 than under 30 and we are all sick to death of teen angst! Cable at least treats us like we are old enough to vote.

I agree. I've been with Supernatural from the beginning and I feel like they are ruining it. Its heartbreaking to invest so much time in these characters and have them feel like family and they treat them so disposable.

He did an episode of Justified last season, they brought him back and his character is currently running for sheriff on that series.

With the way season 3 of Justified went - I'm thinking we'll be seeing a lot more of him in the next season of Justified. Hopefully anyways. I think he's perfect for the role

His character on Justified won the election and he's the new sheriff, his character warned Boyd Crowder about the Marshall's finding the dead body. he then informed Boyd Crowder his debt to him was paid which I took to mean that he could be an honest sheriff and not in Boyd Crowder's back pocket.
I've seen a few actors from Deadwood on Justified, Timothy Olyphant is also a producer on Justified I think Jim beaver will fit in well with all the other odd ball characters on that series.
