I care! And it does matter! I wanted to know so I can add his name to my mental list of beutiful(sp?) people who are the result of interracial couples. My boyfriend is mixed and I know i would love him even if he wasn't mixed but he has the most handsome features.

Why do you "hate that word"? If you had any intelligence or knowledge on the subject at hand you would know that the term "biracial" when applied to human beings is absolutely ignorant considering that scientists agree that the human species can be further divided into subgroups, therefore the word "race" is null and void when used to separate different groups of humans on the basis of skin color, hair texture, and geographic location.
"Mixed" is a fine term to describe someone who is a "mixture" of cultures and/or ethnicities. But, last time I checked, there is no collective "White" culture, so what is the inherent difference between someone like Coby Bell and Halle Berry, who has one White parent and one Black parent or someone like Vanessa Williams or Beyonce who have two Black parents? I am curious as to why the question was even brought up in the first place seeing as anyone with half a brain and minuscule knowledge about Black American history/heritage would know that the vast majority of Black Americans are a mix of West African, European and/or American "Indian/Native" descent and are therefore not 100% derived from any one ethnicity. -

Hey, I know this is old, but I just wanted to say that I wish that more people thought like you. That is exactly what people need to be told when they say that "mixed" is a bad word. It reminds me of when whisper "black" when they use it as a description for a black person, but that's another story. Anyway, I really love seeing people who use their head for more than a hat holder.

There are no "pure" blacks in America unless they are fresh from Africa and weren't "tainted" by Europeans. Barack Obama is more "black" than African-Americans, who are ALL inter-racial - Obama's father and grandparents, on his dad's side, are pure black Africans. For African-Americans to trace THEIR pure black African ancestors, they'd have to go back to the 1400s. None of those people escaped rape and inter-racial breeding.

And I hate people who use the word 'race/racial/etc' because we are NOT a race, we are an ethnicity. Hence it goes like this:
Race: Mammalia (Mammal) technically birds are a different race.
Species: Homo sapiens sapiens (Human)
Ethnicity:
if I was to enter mine on that line, I would enter "multi" because I am multi-ethnic.
Too stupid to understand science, try religion!
