Ever since WCW was purchased I had a new respect for Eric.
I feel so bad for him that he's now the scapegoat of prowrestling. Whether the downfall of WCW or ECW, stealing or mistreating talent, everything has to Bischoff's fault. -

A lot of factors contributed to WCW's downfall. It wasn't anyone particular thing.
Bischoff did a LOT of stupid things, like wasting tons and tons of money for useless crap like the No Limit Soldiers. I believe Big Swoll made $500,000. And if you're asking yourself, "Who the hell is Big Swoll?" then I think I made my point.
However, I think Bischoff learneda0d from his mistakes and, had he purchased WCW like he wanted, things would have been much different. I doubt they would have toppled the WWF/E, but they would have gave them a run for the money again.

Nope. Ted loved wrestling and would've stuck with it if he still had complete control of his company.
Jaime Kellner on the other hand, completely hated wrestling and its fans and didn't want anything to do with them.

Okay maybe he didn't deliver the death blow, but he definitely didn't make the choice hard for the new execs after the merger. If it'd been a moneymaker and not completely atrocious, maybe WCW would've had more of a chance to survive.
Point still being that Bischoff's an idiot. -

Bischoff wasnt in charge when they lost around 60 million bucks in 2000. He wasnt in charge when they're ratings tanked in 2000 either.
By 1999 they had a fair share of flaws but 1999 wasnt so bad that, that year alone would've put them under. They still got good ratings in 99 and take away Bischoffs bad financial moves and they wouldnt have been that much in the red. Besides, losing 10-15 million is chump change compared to 60-80 million. -

okay, he had one good idea - the nwo. after their big ratings jump which despite its entertainment value still resulted in really poor quality shows, they never had the same spark, no matter how many times bischoff came back to the helm. yet he constantly glorifies himself for his one good idea that briefly gave wcw the edge. how much did his creative genius save the company when wwf was absolutely destroying wcw for over two years afterward? i still find it hilarious that he finally became just another man on vince's payroll.

Such a well thought-out response. You definitely dissected all of the reasons I threw out there on why Bischoff is a COMPLETE AND UTTER JOKE in the wrestling business. Its really quite pathetic how he has gloated and based his whole career on this sentiment: "I was the guy who briefly had Vince beat until he drew in way way more business than I could have ever hoped for."
It doesn't matter that Bischoff wasn't always in charge during WCW's declining years, what matters is that they DID bring him back quite a few times and he NEVER was able to replicate the success he had before. Turning Hogan heel was all the idiot had.
Bischoff sucks. So do you, for that matter jasongcook. -

All? You do realize it w5b4as Bischoff who brought in guys like Guerrero, Benoit, Malenko, and gave the cruiserweights and luchadores their own division and belt? It was ALL these things that made WCW a success. Not just Hogan turning heel.
Bischoff and WCW brought wrestling back from the hole it had fallen in in the early 90s.
It's all part of the plan. -

the cruiserweight division was a big plus for wcw back in their hayday, but lets be honest, people were tuning in MOSTLY to watch the nwo because it was a fresh and provocative angle and hogan was a bad guy for the first time in his career. everything else in the show could've been filler (and a lot of it WAS absolute garbage) and the ratings would've still been excellent. the nwo was what gave wcw the edge.
bischoff might've brought wrestling back from the hole, but he didn't keep it there. that was vince and the attitude era, absolutely without a doubt. the huge buzz around wrestling that he was able to maintain didn't die off until wcw finally did die and vince no longer had to try due to zero competition.
so yes, i'll admit maybe my comments about bischoff's contributions were a little unfair, but i stand by the fact that the guy is a joke who has tried to bank his whole career around one great idea.
