Yes he did it was during the is Elvis alive fade. It was a special about how he could have faked his death, why he may have done it what legal remifications he might face if any if he was alive. It was pretty stupid and if your a Bill Bixby fan its probebly best you never see it.

As another poster stated, it was an "Elvis is alive" exploitation special. BB was dying at the time (though he still looked OK)and it certainly appears he was trying to add to his family's estate before it was too late.
BB was a friend and co-star of Elvis and the low point came at the end of the special when BB looked into the camera and said he believed Elvis could be alive. Though BB was a pretty good actor he didn't try too hard to sell this line. -

It was called "Is Elvis Alive".There were 2 specials. In the first one he was almost totally convinced that Elvis was alive and his death was faked, however,in the 2nd one he sort of backed off from his being so sure and left it to the viewer to decide one way or the other. There were a lot of things pointed out to prove that he could be alive.Watching it made one believe that his death was faked.to take him out of the watch of the press, and so he could live a "normal" life. But,his poor health condition in 1977 pretty much assured that he passed on that eventful year.
Notice "That 70s Show" never mentioned the death of Elvis? And it was based in 1977/1978..hummmmmanother conspiracy..
And what about that Andy Kaufman fake death huh???
Dont believe any of them.you cannot just disappear off the face of the planet, unless you are buried in it.. -

Its really interesting that this special is not listed on B.B.'s IMDB biography profile. I certainly would'nt have blamed him for not wanting it there, but it makes me wonder- can actors have the "lemons" of thier film careers deleted from the list? It certainly would challenge the integrity of the information on IMDB.

Thanks, Signature free. I have been wondering this for the longest time. It seems that every website and person has omitted this from their memory. Wikipedia doesn't mention it and neither does E! True Hollywood story. I know it wasn't Bill Bixby's high point, but as a fan of his I'd still like to read about it.
Thanks for the link. -

Yes- he did. It was called "the Elvis Files". It was a show that explored the possibilities and theories that Elvis was still alive. He was the host, and interviewed people etc and there was a phone-in line to which viewers could report Elvis sightings etc..

I remember that. I think it was from 1991. Anyway it was funny but a year or so later I was watching Blossom and he must have added some inside joke because Blossom and Six were talking about Bixby on the show about the Elvis documentary and she wondered "Why Bill Bixby?" something about wondering why he would host such a show. The audience was laughing after they picked up on it.

It's funny you ask this because I just ask a similar question in the Shatner board:
http://www.imdb.com/board/20000638/board/thread/172088990
In my mind, it was Bill Shatner, but this thread has me doubting.
One thing that vividly stands out in my mind was 'exclusive video' of Elvis in the studio and then, for some reason, he stops recording to say something like this:
Elvis: Hey everybody, I just wanted to stop recording this here song to say I heard about President Reagan getting shot and I'm very sorry to hear that.
I was kid but still was like "wtf would Elvis do that?"
So, can anyone who remembers these vids recall such a moment?
I still think it was Shatnerbut who knows.
