Hell, I even thought I was dead 'til I found out it was just that I was in Nebraska.

Those shows often employ actors as they are completely staged. It was most likely a paid gig.

Although I agree it's staged, I highly doubt they pay actors. More likely, and I read this a while ago, they sometimes re-enact the home buy. Plus, they wouldn't hire someone as relatively famous as Blalock and someone like Blalock wouldn't take the gig.
