Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Jolene Blalock

    ladytroy — 19 years ago(April 15, 2006 12:40 PM)

    Hi There,
Does anyone know why they never aired the Jolene Blalock (formerly of "Star Trek Enterprise") episode on the TV show "LOST"? I believe she was supposed to be one of Sawyer's lost loves. Thanks for your help.

From what I read in TV Guide, the producers canned the episode in favor of a Michael-centric flashback; according to Josh Holloway, the episode will probably never be shown. No reason given. Too bad, Jolene on "Lost" co-starring with one of the show's Big Three would've boosted her profile. As of now, she's doing Lifetime movies.

Yah I'm surprised they did that, usually TV has to move too fast for them to take time and cut out a whole story like that, but I guess you can afford to do that when you're one of TV's biggest shows. I had assumed that they would air the footage as flashbacks later but I guess not. I wonder if the footage will end up on as a DVD extra or if it would interfere too much with the canonical story (no idea if I used that correctly or what). Was the character essentially the same sort of role as the Kim Dickens' character later on in the season?

From the info I've read, Jolene's character was named "Nikki" and she was supposed to be Sawyer's one true love; if you remember when he was delerious in the hatch when Jack was treating him and got up and said "I love her!" Jack thought he was talking about Kate, but Sawyer was actually having a fever dream about Jolene's "Nikki" character.
I doubt we will ever see the episode in DVD. The producers probably figure any "off canon" episode would screw up the plot line.
Too bad, I'm a big fan of Jolene, she deserves a shot at the limelight or at least getting noticed- an episode on the hottest show on TV with one of its biggest stars would have done it.
I actually saw Jolene in Pasadena at the Creations event- she was great on stage and really appreciated the fans. I think its tragic Berman & Braga wasted her for the first 2 seasons on "Enterprise," hell, the whole series was a waste until mid 3rd season and got fully back on track on the excellent Season 4 when Coto took over- but too little, too late.

Hmm I was unaware such a curse existed. William Shatner has moved on to star in several successful series (the most recent being "Boston Legal", of course, for which he has won an Emmy); Patrick Stewart has acquired even more fame from the X-Men films and continues to act on stage; Connor Trinneer continues to receive roles on various TV shows, from "Close to Home" to "NCIS" to "Stargate"; Robert Picardo also continues to receive roles and also continues to act on stage; Nana Visitor is currently starring on "Wildfire"; Nikki de Boer is starring on "The Dead Zone"; Rene Auberjonois continues to act on-stage AND co-stars with Shatner on "Boston Legal"; Alexander Siddig received much acclaim for his role in Syriana and continues to star in major motion pictures; LeVar Burton, Robert Duncan McNeill, and Roxann Dawson are currently enjoying great directing careers; Linda Park will be seen in a new series this January; Tim Russ also has a new series coming out; John Billingsle2000y has a recurring role on "Prison Break" and continues to act in major films; Scott Bakula's doing what he loves - acting in the theatre; Avery Brooks continues to act and teach as well as perform music; Anthony Montgomery is back to acting and has a successful music career, as well; Nichelle Nichols has been appearing in major films; George Takei also continues to acquire roles (plus he has a steady career as Howard Stern's announcer); Brent Spiner, Michael Dorn, Ethan Phillips, Jeri Ryan, and Colm Meaney all continue to act in film and on television; and Blalock herself is venturing into feature films.
              So where's the curse? 😉

Nana Visitor's acting career was coming to an end by the time she graced the set of DS9, she was a Matlock leftover. Terry Farrel did 5 years on Becker. Siddig el Fadel (a.k.a. Alexander Siddig) was the main character in Syriana. Jonathan Frakes hasn't stopped to take a breath for years. Brent Spiner is a similar story. Cirroc Lofton did 3 years on The Wire. Jeri Ryan (who is not that hot, that outfit on Voyager had like 5 pounds of foam rubber in it) did 2 years on Boston Public. I forget the name of the actress who played Ezri Dax, but she's the female lead on The Dead Zone. I won't go through all the rest, but just look through their profiles on this site, and see how wrong you are.
Heck of a curse, it apparently makes those effected by it suffer through millions of dollars and dozens of new jobs. Wish I could be so hurtfully cursed.
In case you're too thick that was sarcasm at the end there.

There is no Star Trek Curse, most of the people have mo1908ved on to better things!! The only 2 people who screwed themselves were Denise Crosby and Wil Wheaton!! They missed out on future seasons and movie quality $$ that was like 2-3 million a movie. Those were the only dollar losers for Star Trek. The other series haven't done a movie, so they missed out on nothing. (I will take part of that back since Avery Brooks was paid $60,000 for First Contact, yet they cut him out of the movie, and Kate Mulgrew was in Nemesis, and I don't know what she was paid.)

You still haven't convinced me.Stewart and Shatner aside, other then Siddig and Jeri Ryan no one did anything that would be remembered by no-Trek fans.
That's just my 2 cents.I believ what I believ and there's no point talking about it any more. Thanks and good night.

Who are you, Cartman? "Screw you guys, I'm going home" is no way to win a disagreement.

vule69, I agree with you, working in Star Trek, with the exception of few, one wastes his/her career. Sadly scifi productions are the ruin of the actors, above all actresses.Sigourney Weaver did ok but she was already famous and Angelina Jolie is the daughter of Jon Voigt, if she was a shoe they would make her, anyway, famous.

one more thing, you can be the best in the auditions, but there'll be always someone who "has friends in high places" stealing the role from you.

i think jolene never worked in lost 'cause she wants to work in feature films as lead actress or co-starring. She's very very talented a firstclass star.
