How idiotic!

Apparently no one wants to argue the fact Alice Braga has no idea what she is talking about regarding US politics. It seems this would not be the first time a Hollywood bigshot opened his or her mouth and eventually realized no sense was coming out of his or her pie hole!
Outstanding work sage7ecfoole.

I was gonna call you a liar, say that there is no such thing-once a Marine always a Marine. But then there's that P.O.S. disgrace to the Eagle, Globe and Anchor called John Murtha I gladly call him an EX-Marine because he sold his soul and honor to the likes of the MOVEON(dot)ORG pukes.

uh, what the hell are you talking about? there are rather a lot of people in the world who dislike george w bush, including a large number of americans. when people have political opinions, they will tend to express those opinions from time to time, as, uh, you're doing with your opinions in your post. what does the fact that alice braga is an actress have to do with her opinions of george w bush?
-
notkrisroe83 — 18 years ago(March 23, 2008 02:34 PM)
The fact of the matter is that there are tons of bleeding heart actors in Hollywood claiming this country is being run so terribly, but they have no credit besides being "famous". Now a freaking Brazilian comes in and starts spouting out about how much she thinks Bush is a bad leader, what does she know about our government?
-

Simply take a look at newspapers and magazines (not gossip ones) and see what Bush has done to the world. If that's not enough, don't forget that the USA is an important country in economical matters, and that if your economy is down, other countries will suffer a certain unstableness as well.

I don't give a spit in the wind what "other people around the world think." And that same "large amount of Americans" think even worse of your Liberal Congress Now it is a fact that other countries hate us, and always will,
until they need us to bail their sorry butts out-again
! Yes she has the right to her opinions and the right to voice it. Nowhere, however, does there exist a right to speak out with rebuttal. Nor does the right exist to speak out and everyone must like it and agree. These last two are where the Libs get real butt hurt In fact, I fully anticipated being hated on because I dared to disagree with a Hollyweird Lib. I just expected it to come a lot sooner Now, I don't care if Braga is an actress-she is quite mediocre at that-but I am bored with her and all the other vacuous idiots in Hollyweird thinking that their 2000celebrity status gives them some sort of special wisdom and the afore mentioned free pass on stupidity. Like that old time commercial; "Hi. I'm not a doctor but I play one on TV so take these pills to feel better." (Yes, that was a real live commercial from back in the day!) People want to think W is an idiot, fine! More power to them! He graduated from Harvard and Yale, and Braga graduated from(the casting couch doesn't count!)? And they want to think a lying, cowardly sacks of crap like Gore, Murtha or Kerry are geniuses, well we can all see how opinions are relative I just think Liberals are moronic, and no longer amusing. Elect Billary or Obamination and we as a country will be bankrupt within 2 years. But y'all will blame Bush for that too because that's all you know how to do-instead of taking responsibility for your own failed philosophies.

I don't give a spit in the wind what "other people around the world think."
well that's certainly an interesting way to start a lengthly post where you endlessly rant about about what other people around the world think
Now it is a fact that other countries hate us, and always will, until they need us to bail their sorry butts out-again!
wow, your understanding of international affairs is first rate! not to mention extremely mature! you don't just have your finger on the pulse of geopolitics, you have your whole goddamn lower arm jammed in there! alice braga must be quaking in her boots!
Nowhere, however, does there exist a right to speak out with rebuttal.
i guess i must have missed the part of ms. braga's quote where she said "and anyone who disagrees with me will be sent to a gulag in siberia"
These last two are where the Libs get real butt hurt In fact, I fully anticipated being hated on because I dared to disagree with a Hollyweird Lib.
i'm "hating on you" because of the idiotic WAY in which you're disagreeing, not simply because you're disagreeing. if you approve of bush thats fine. alice braga doesn't. maybe sometime you two can get together and have a sensible adult discussion about politics. or maybe she can just go bang her head against a brick wall for half an hour or so
Now, I don't care if Braga is an actress-she is quite mediocre at that
wow.politics AND world cinemado you have any other areas of expertise?
I am bored with her and all the other vacuous idiots in Hollyweird
she's barely "in hollywood" at all, you complete tit. shes barely even a celebrity. she's been in a whopping great two hollywood films in her entire career. do you think as soon as anyone anywhere embarks on an acting career they suddenly transform into mia farrow?
and who cares about people in hollywood expressing their opinions. noone listens to them anyway. are you that insecure about the reputation of the bush administration you have to defend them on the internet against some mild comments from a not-particularly-famous brazilian actress?
thinking that their celebrity status gives them some sort of special wisdom and the afore mentioned free pass on stupidity.
so not only did i miss her saying "and anyone who disagrees with me will be sent to a gulag in siberia" but i also missed "because i make a living as an actress therefore my opinions are worth way more than yours, moron". boy, that alice braga sure is a bitch!
Like that old time commercial; "Hi. I'm not a doctor but I play one on TV so take these pills to feel better."
what an absolutely bulletproof comparison. way to make sense!
People want to think W is an idiot, fine! More power to them! He graduated from Harvard and Yale, and Braga graduated from(the casting couch doesn't count!)?
i dont recall her saying he was an idiot. she just said she didnt like his actions as president.
I just think Liberals are moronic, and no longer amusing.
god, the only thing worse than people who use words like "liberals" and/or "conservatives" in every other goddamn sentence is people who actually CAPITALIZE them
Elect Billary or Obamination and we as a country will be bankrupt within 2 years.
2 years? come on. the economy right now under the bush administration is in such a fantastic state, there's no way it would collapse in such a short space of time.
But y'all will blame Bush for that too because that's all you know how to do-instead of taking responsibility for your own failed philosophies.

well that's certainly an interesting way to start a lengthly post where you endlessly rant about about what other people around the world think
OK, obviously you haven't been following the thread or you would have realized that I was responding to a specific statement made by another person. "Endlessly?" Oh please And I was rebutting the idiotic statement made by ONE, that is 1, singular, non-plural, INDIVIDUAL.
wow, your understanding of international affairs is first rate! not to mention extremely mature! you don't just have your finger on the pulse of geopolitics, you have your whole goddamn lower arm jammed in there! alice braga must be quaking in her boots!
Oh me oh my how the rapier like wit stings me
i'm "hating on you" because of the idiotic WAY in which you're disagreeing,
Versus name calling, or what? This statement makes little to no sense. Also, I said her statement of "someone like bush" which I find repugant. Someone that stands up to the murderers of the world, like OBL or Saddam Hussein? Taking the fight to them instead of rolling over and begging to not get hit again-like Clinton or Carter did? I have many disagreements with W, but I also agree with a lot of what he has done.
i guess i must have missed the part of ms. braga's quote where she said "and anyone who disagrees with me will be sent to a gulag in siberia"
Wow, she said that? I didn't know! My statement was in response to someone else beratting me for criticizing her.
wow.politics AND world cinemado you have any other areas of expertise?
Please see the afore mentioned statement about your rapier like wit. But yes I do-I read. You know what that is, right? Find a history book-you'll be amazed!
she's barely "in hollywood" at all, you complete tit.
Your grasp of the American dialect of the English language is some what lacking It was a statement that was all inclusive-hence the words: "and all the other vacuous idiots" And I do give you credit for waiting this long to engage in juvenielle name calling. Most libs can't wait to engage in their version of reasoned, rational debate. But I digress-have you never heard the colloquilism "going Hollywood?" I guess not "Letting success go to your head?" OH! Does this mean I get to "hate on you" for the way you disagree with me?
what an absolutely bulletproof comparison. way to make sense!
OK, you misunderstood

god, the only thing worse than people who use words like "liberals" and/or "conservatives" in every other goddamn sentence is people who actually CAPITALIZE them
God I wish that were true! I could use the money! Me, I just use "Liberal" to make the distinction-oh, also as a pejorative And anyone who doesn't even know that there is a difference really ned to go back to school.
2 years? come on. the economy right now under the bush administration is in such a fantastic stab68te, there's no way it would collapse in such a short space of time.
Although is IS in better shape than when W inherited the Clinton/Gore recession, either one of those idiotic candidates adding over 37 trillion in new spending for yet another nonexistent entitlement will do the trick! Bribe people with their own money, buy their votes, collapse the economy. Tax and spend has never pulled the country out of an economic slow down. (Jeeze, FDR almost doubled the length of the Depression with his policies!) No, we aren't in a recession. There is an actual definition and the economy growing at a slower rate doesn't meet that definition.
an administration blaming the previous administration for a monumentous mistake? imagine that.
Gee, I kinda thought that the word "philosophy" gave it away-I was berating people in a school of thought that over 5,000 years of history shows to be a failure
So, anything better? Hopefully anything better that lacks profanity

Everyone's entitled to express your opinions. I for one couldn't agree less with you, but still, I was raised to respect and listen to other people's opinions regardless of their nationality. Resorting to name-calling is extremely rude, immature and it only takes away any value your argument could have. If you truly wish to have your views respected and taken into consideration, try being polite and having an adult conversation.
I'm not entirely sure of the exact amount, but google says 13 brazilians died on 9-11. Not that much, but still those are 13 people who will never see their families again. I won't even get into the whole discussion of US attacking Iraq while there wasn't any direct involvement of this nation in this tragic event, I'll just say you're missing the point: no sane person in this world would suppport terrorism. I don't agree with what's going on in Iraq, it seems to me and to many others not only "outsiders" but also North-Americans believe that this invasion wasn't meant to defeat terrorism, to catch the responsible for 9-11, but for oil. And I'm sure none of you are close-minded enough to have never heard of this line of thought.
I'm very sorry to inform, but this is a rather large world that exists beyond USA. Billions of "outsiders" will have opinions about your country and many others as well. If you want, you're more than welcome to discuss and even trash my country's affairs, my president, my governor, my mayor who never ceazes to ignore everything but the pretty, touristic part of my city, the violence, the soccer, Carnaval, the fact we speak Portuguese instead of Spanish, how we got rid of of our dictators just to get our money stolen by a nice little president named Collor in the 90's I'll "try" to follow you on that, but trust me 95% of the politians in the world are worthless. If you wanna embrace something, embrace your family. Adopt an African kid, go plant trees or donate stuff you don't use anymore to people in need do something for the world, for yourself and people around you instead of wasting your time in an online board worrying about a vaguely expressed political view of a Brazilian actress. People trash americans all the time, you won't do your nation any favor by just cursing the rest of the world to defend a politician. As cliched as this sounds, try to make a difference instead of being just
another
person who can't see beyond their own nose.
Well, I guess I should just get back to my little corner you know, with my brazilian mediocrity and all. -

What name calling? I said her statement is idiotic.

don't care about the rest of the world's opinion of the US-it will change with the nest tsunami, hurricane volcano or genocidal dictator to come along!!!

OK, I never trashed Brazil or said that Brazil is mediocre. Get over it. I think, based on what I've seen, that Brazil and her people are quite lovely. I disagree, and rebut, the opinion of ONE Brazilian. An actress. And here in America people who pretend for a living think their opinions are more wise and informed than the common person. I'm here to tell she's wrong. I would be interested in comparing my educational level with hers

"What name calling? I said her statement is idiotic."
The term "idiotic" would be considered name-calling. You either agree with someone or not, but just saying something's idiotic for not agreeing with it
IS
rude.
"I am ell aware of that-I have travelled the world. I just don't care about the rest of the world's opinion of the US-it will change with the nest tsunami, hurricane volcano or genocidal dictator to come along!!!"
I wasn't aware the tsunamis made the world love US more the entire world was trying to help them.
Eh, I didn't know I'd still find people who think like this. Countries do nothing for other nations unless there's some interest behind it. I'm not even saying it's just the US, since it would be absurd. Those notions of good guys/bad guys are only meant to fool the masses into seeing everything just in black and white. USA is not a heroic nation no nation is and ever will be.
Oh sorry, I forgot. You don't care. Eh well pointless to discuss, then.
"OK, I never trashed Brazil or said that Brazil is mediocre. Get over it. I think, based on what I've seen, that Brazil and her people are quite lovely. I appreciate the compliment, you just seem rather upset to see a Brazilian expressing her opinions about a certain politician. I guess it's just the general idea of presenting an opinion different than yours that stings. And I just said you're more than welcome to do trash Brazil's international affairs, even the national ones. I wouldn't waste my time by defending politicians or anything that goes on here.
I'm quite aware of how Holliwood is, thank you. Just half an hour watching E! would be enough. Well HERE, in South America, Brazil, actors are just pretty people not talented enough to model, participated in a reality show, suffer some kind of eating disorder or addiction, were on Playboy last month and mostly had their 15 min of fame for some absurd reason and, for an even more absurd reason, still think they can get another 15. Of course, there are still some real actors out there, but are probably going to be on yet another piece of crap like a soap opera to pay the bills or at least to not be forgotten in the chaos of pop culture we're living.
Doesn't this description sound familiar to you? most of these fake celebrities will be the same anywhere in the globe. However, they're still people meant to be respected. Their statements are simply opinions that get more attention because they're famous, not imposed opinions. I haven't seen enough of Alice Braga yet to know if she'll be any good and she's not even that pretty. All I know is that she currently goes to PUC-SP, just one of the most prestigious Universities in Latin America. Trust me, I took the exams for the same school equivalent in my state, they don't let just anyone enter. -

The term "idiotic" would be considered name-calling. You either agree with someone or not, but just saying something's idiotic for not agreeing with it IS rude.
I will just have to respectfully disagree with you on this point.
you just seem rather upset to see a Brazilian expressing her opinions about a certain politician.
My (hopefully) new friend, that she is Brazilian is tertiary in my opinion of her. She has "gone Hollywood" and drank the "Moveon
org Koolaid." And, I've been quite kind to her compared to how I've beaten up on AMERICAN actors who've said similiarly stupid stuff!
USA is not a heroic nation
Again, I respectffuly disagree. If it weren't for the US-in large part but there certainly was international help-the USSR would still be around and threatening world peace. How much effort did the US put forth to defeat Hitler, Mussolini and Showa? As for tsunamis making the world love the US more, yes the rest of the world also helps these people. But let us compare percentage of Gross Domestic Product given to the victims from each country
And I just said you're more than welcome to do trash Brazil's international affairs, even the national ones.
I wouldn't think of it! Why would I beat up on an entire population for the words of one? It would be wrong and pointless!
I'm quite aware of how Holliwood is, thank you. Just half an hour watching E! would be enough., etc.
It seems to me that you and I actually agree far more than we disagree. It also seems to me that you have taken umbrage over a perceived slight that didn't happen. For that misinterpretation I do apologize!

What I want to know is in what interview did she say this? Not that I disagree in the least, I just want to point out that just because it's on iMDB that doesn't make it true.
I also want to know because I can't find it anywhere. Is it as "reliable" a source as the one that said Will Smith supposedly talked about his admiration for Hitler? -

You don't have to be unaware of political affairs to realize that Mr. Bush is a sad thing not o111cnly for the USA, but for the world. And her comment is agreed by more than half of the planet. I admire her using her influential artistic image to say what has to be said. Everyone that has access to the media should do it. Actually, many of them do
-

Mr. Bush is a sad thing not only for the USA, but for the world.
Yeah, you're sure right-lets all just hug murderous terrorists! That'll make them leave us alone! Oh, and forget giving tax breaks to the American people-the fraudulant and wasteful goverment can use our money much better than we can! They know whats best for us, instead of us using our own minds and judgement!!! Thanks for setting me straight!
And her comment is agreed by more than half of the planet.
Oh, I am sorry-somewhere you got the wrong impression: I could care less about what people in, oh, say France, think about our President or our country in general. The whole world hates us because, as of yet, we have almost no moronic Socialism in our country, we execute mad dog murderers, etc. We are the big, bad, uncivilized bully on the block-boo hoo. Who is on speed dial for these same governments when the crap hits the fan? If you said USA, "yahtzee!" You get to stay around for Final Jeopardy!!!
I admire her using her influential artistic image to say what has to be said.
Has to be said? Jeeze, every single moronic uneducated comedian in America has been saying it for the past eight years. Get over it, "Forrest" Gore and "Stolen Honor" Kerry lost. And she isn't all that influential, or well known. I've seen her in one movie and found her performance uninspired.
Actually, many of them do
More's the pity they actually do. And when they speak out on the conservative side, people like Airhead America, etc., make vicious personal attacks against them. You see, Liberals-such as Barrack Obama, Hillary Clinton, the afore mentioned presidential losers, et al-believe in free speech only as long as that speech is under their political tent. I have had that badge of honor in here plenty of times. I offer debate and get vitriol. It just goes to show the vacuous nature of the Liberal/Socialist arguments!
Quick question: are you a kool-aid drinker, or are you willing to back up your statements?
Liberals
