Not that it matters, really, but tom cruise has been married several times and we all know he isn't gay, right? marriage isn't really a guarantee of anything. i've known several couples who were both gay and got married to have kids or just for companionship.

attempt to correct your perception.
Your post gives the impression that all you know about these two subjects is from watching the news coverage of gay pride parades. Coverage that generally concentrates on the most flamboyantly costumed people visible while ignoring the more mainstream majority.
As others have tried to explain, homosexuality and transvestism are two completely different and unrelated things. There is a surprisingly small overlap (surprising to you, anyway): some cross-dressers are gay,
others aren't
; some gay men cross-dress,
most don't
.
Your post creates such a perception of shallowness that I must conclude with this Gilbert & Sullivan line:
