Has NB been blacklisted in Hollywood? He's a better actor than many out there, Hollywood has forgiven
far
worse than alcohol abuse - what the frack is going on? I had to sit through the un-Godly bad
Blood on the Highway
to see him. His was the only quasi un-laughable character. -

Why do you think he has been Blacklisted? He is still getting some work. He's still doing Criminal Minds and he will be doing 3 episodes of Private Practice
Its understandable Spike is strong and mysterious and sort of compact but well muscled

Unfortunately, the CM 'guest starring' roles seem more like a glorified extra and he doesn't have the litany of credits like Alison Hannigan, James Marsters, etc. Even David Boreanaz has gone on to do more. NB seems stuck in Indies, the majority of which he's a producer on. I'm just saying someone needs to really hire him. Maybe as Travis if they ever redo WATCHERS, more in keeping with the actual book. I think he'd be goo5b4d on CHUCK as well. Remember Xander was the first to show a wide range of emotions. From the wise-acre associated with the character, to tough in The Pack, Go Fish, and even how he reacted to the coach in Nightmares. And much much more.
Someone needs to hire this boy, (we're the same age. He's no adult if I no say he's no adult!

I think part of the problem is that Xander was never as popular of a character as Willow or Spike. But even James Marsters hasn't had the post-Buffy success that Alyson Hannigan, David Boreanaz and Julie Benz have had.

James has done sigificantly better than Nick though. He's had major recurring roles, much larger than Nick's CM-glorified extra, in Torchwood, Smallville, etc. Compare his IMDB to Nick's. Nick needs to get more stuff. IMHO, at least on Buffy, he was a better actor than David. DB in the first couple of seasons just seemed so wooden. He's 100 times better now, but still.

Xander was one of my FAVOURITES on buffy, and yes I'm Australian if the spelling of "favorite" didn't give it away:)
I personally think Nicholas should do some comedies, he was so111c funny on Buffy. Doesn't anyone remember the Dracula episode? Master . bater. Hahahah cracks me up even now. And the one where he got split in two, hilarious.
I think Nicholas Brendan is brilliant and I just pray that he gets to do some comedies, he could be the next big star. -

What helped Julie Benz is the fact that her role was so short on Buffy/Angel. If she played a longer role then it would have hurt her career.
I think he was typecast.

While I agree, because hey, I can't get enough of NB, it's not necessarily a bad thing to do Indies and be a producer on them. He's a professional working actor. Not like he's sweeping the streets as part of his parole or anything.
Also, I 5b4really don't think it has anything to do with whether or not Xander was a popular chracter. It has a lot to do with what he's being sent to audition for, whether he's right for the part, and probably the reliability factor. Also, it's a lot of "who ya know" in Hollywood. Maybe he just doesn't know the right people?

I don't have the facts for a rebuttal, scarletto, mainly because I don't know when NB's final episode of CM actually filmed. He was arrested on 3/17/10 and "Compromising Positions" aired almost 7 months later (10/13/10).
You certainly may be correct that he's been penalized for the arrest. But I sure hope not. I, for one, would like to see more plotting involving his character, Kevin Lynch.
He's been good in "Private Practice" and
hopefully
that will get him some additional notice in the industry. -

Well, considering he's totally lacking in any form of 'talent' and the last time I saw a pic of him, he weighed about 250 lbs., it shouldn't be that surprising that he isn't working.

I don't know when that photo was taken (that you are referring to), but I just saw him (in person) earlier this month and he looked great (certainly much less than 250#) ~ and he was very pleasant to talk to

Oh, he probably is a nice guy, but he was quite a porker for a while, not that there is anything wrong with that. I'm fat. And there are guys out there who like fat gay men. Anyway, it doesn't change his inability to act.

Well, I have to disagree with you on the "lack of talent."
He was very funny on Buffy,2000 and I'm watching a movie right now that he's in (I wasn't expecting to see him, actually) and he's very good at playing a psycho. I was surprised to see him looking so old though. I watched Buffy about a year after it started, and he looked very young then, so I assumed he really was about 17 or 18. I had no idea that he's actually older than me.
Anyway, this is just a thought, but maybe he doesn't want Hollywood fame. Maybe he's happy in the roles he's in. I know it's hard to believe, but not everybody wants "spotlight fame." Some people just want to act, and not be in every little thing available. -

the guy did good work on Buffy. But from what I understand he got that role with no experience and as a first timer. Buffy may have started as a breakout role but very easily could have become an albatross around his neck, especially if he carried his Xanderisms into other auditions.
I dig his work as Xander a lot. He is the heart of the show. Im sorry to hear about his addiction problems, and hope its true that he has gotten past that.
For the record, he has appeared a little on Criminal Minds since the arrest tho his role, small to begin with, has been noticeably scaled back to almost nothing. Given his role is love interest to the human Fragile Rock on the phones, probably not a bad thing.
