Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Connie Britton

    Jaybone23 — 12 years ago(July 19, 2013 09:57 AM)

There's been a lot of talk here about how old Connie Britton looks in her most recent shows. Only in the shallow world of Hollywood is this an issue. And BTW, my guess is, despite the number of men here who have been posting about how she looks older than her current age of 46 or 47, that if Miss Britton were to approach them in a bar, they'd be all over her. Only in their dreams, of course. It must suck being an attractive actress in Hollywood. You simply aren't allowed to age normally like every other schlub on the planet. You either get grief from the business or from the public if you happen to not appear 25-years old for your entire career. There was a story in the Hollywood da0press not too long ago about Kristen Stewart dropping out of a film because Will Smith was being cast as her love interest. Stewart claimed that she was dropping out because she thought that the age gap between the two of them would not be believable. I call BS on that one, BTW, and think something else is going on (?) because prior to Will Smith, Ben Affleck was cast in the same role and both men are nearly the same age, as well as being about 20 years older than Stewart. But isn't it weird that Hollywood always pairs up a 40-something leading man with a 20-something lead actress? Almost never does the lead couple in a movie happen to be the same age. AnywayPeople will say, "Well, that's just how Hollywood works. They have to put attractive people on the screen or no one will watch." And to that I say, "Not ALL of us are shallow morons."
I, for one, happen to think Connie Britton looks stunning. I've always liked her, going all the way back to her first credited film role in The Brothers McMullen. I'm in my early 40s and I'm not currently involved, but I sure wouldn't want my girlfriend or wife to feel so insecure about her looks that she would resort to cosmetic surgery or other artificial means of appearing young. Gimme real over fake any day. Allow nature to take its course.

She looks well in age, not 2000botoxed or as plastic doll. And on Nashville she looks great at 46, see recent photo from show -

Yep. Absolutely. Couldn't agree more. And ya know, if Connie Britton were to go and do those sorts of things, get botox, have plastic surgery, I couldn't blame her for that. For one thing, it's HER body. Nobody else, save members of her own family perhaps, should have a say in that. And the other thing is, the pressure in Hollywood to look young must be enormous. Who's to say that you or I would be able to resist such pressure?
But it looks like she's NOT doing such things, and good for her. I hope she fights the Hollywood stereotype.
        Thanks for weighing in, arofficial.

And Hollywood producers recently cast her, 46 year old actress as female lead in Warner Bros.'s comedy 'This Is Where I Leave You'. She plays old cougar as love interes for young Adam Driver.

Jaybone, I wish there were a way to super "like" your comment because I thought you did a great job in telling off these people who have the nerve to bash a beautiful and naturally aging woman. I would rather more women be like Connie rather than like Courtney Cox. The latter spent large amount of money to not look old and her plastic surgery makes her unbearable to watch on an otherwise delightful show "Cougar Town." Courtney looked beautiful older before her surgeries and should have taken note from how Connie has handled it. So thank you Jaybone for showing the beauty of aging and the fact that Connie is beautiful regardless of age.

Thank you, but I shouldn't be considered special for those thoughts. Judging from your comments too, there are plenty of people like us out there. I just wish they'd speak up more here on these forums. The bottom line is most plastic surgery looks obvious, if not plain WEIRD. Nobody should bother to endeavor to do what amounts to body mutilation. Take care!

I agree. Connie still looks terrific now.
I'm amazed if anyone really can honestly prefer overly plastic, duck-lipped, fake looking women.

Connie is a very sexy "older" woman (even though she's not that old.. do we call Brad Pitt an "older" man?). It comes naturally to her. People are uncomfortable with this because women her age don't usually "make it" late in the game like she did. Gender stereotypes will always exist, bashing will always occur. It sucks, but that's the reality faced by women.

I sooo agree with you! At least her face looks natural and not frozen like all these botoxed Hollywood actresses. I am myself in my fifties and I get compliments all the time about my face, I never did anything to it, I just take care of my skin with moisturizers, I avoid the sun and I don't smoke. Natural women are the most beautiful whatever their age and Connie is one of them, she has a really pretty, expressive face and such beautiful hair!
Sorry, English is my second language.

she is hot regardless of what her age is. botox cannot make someone hot.
people who could have looked good as they got older but got too crazy with surgery:
                      mary tyler moore
                      bruce jenner
meh, don't need to type out that list. fine if it makes you feel better i guess, but in the imdb era, we know your age, so why "hide" it?

Yeah, it's gotta be difficult for women in Hollywood. The pressure. There's so much pressure on an attractive actress to STAY attractive. Connie Britton was stunning and fresh and new in The Brothers McMullen in 1995. I've not exactly been following her career, but I was there in the beginning. I saw that movie and she made an impression. I thought, just on her looks alone, that she could be become an enormous star. Well, she's not considered a Triple-A star actress like Angelina Jolie, Nicole Kidman, or Charlize Theron, but Connie Britton's hb68ad a career and she's gonna be around for awhile. Twenty years on from The Brothers McMullen and she still looks great, and without having to resort to surgery or stupid, trendy procedures and treatments.

I honestly only have 3 crushes that are in their early 20s,most woman in hollywood i like are in their mid or late 20s,30s,40s and even 50s. Im not affraid to say a 46 year old actress like connie is beautiful

Where to even begin? From your laughable insinuation that male commenters' willingness to pursue/hook up with Connie in a hypothetical real world encounter despite asserting she looks older than her age constitutes some sort of pathetic hypocrisy on their behalf (it doesn't), to your baseless presumption about the gender of those making said comments, to

Boo hoo hoo. Quit whining because people think that she looks ALOT older than her real age. It's the way she carries herself in every movie and in every scene. Sorry, but there are millions and billions of dollars to be made and Hollywood doesn't have time to spend (or us men wish to blow money) on actors/actresses that won't conform 'to the perfect ideal woman/man'. If I want to see a woman 'age naturally' then I'll do a documentary on my mother or sisters. I/we all want the ideal actress, so we can get a moment to escape the real world.
If a person doesn't want to play by the Hollywood rules (beauty and maintenance) then they don't deserve the millions and A list life that could be theirs. Elizabeth Taylor, Marilyn Monroe, Rita Hayworth, Elizabeth Montgomery, Vivianne Leigh, among others weren't perfect size 0 bobble head dingbats that you all think us men want, they were classy, beautiful, heart pounding, traffic stopping, women - they could take a man's breath away with a single look. Sorry, BUT Connie takes our breath away only because of the shock when we discover she is 15-20 years older than she looks (or acts). She made Friday Night Lights, Nashville unwatchable, and made American Horror Story a nightmare to watchif not for Jessica Lange. Now Jessica Lange can still make a man walk right into a wall (and she's older than Connie, imagine thstI guess it's not all about age, huh?).

                                  Your post doesn't make sense.
Excluding Elizabeth Montgomery, the actresses you named were gorgeous and some had work done - Monroe, Hayworth and Taylor. They were indeed uniquely beautiful and VERY ambitious for their time. The casting couch was very much in use then ,with the exception of Vivien Leigh whose association with Olivier did not harm her career.
There are many beautiful actresses out there now.
However in the Jewish Hollywood establishment, you have to appear the complete opposite of their race. Hence the conveyor belt of blonde 44DD chested anorexic interchangeable females.
And then it's who you know, who you flirt with, who you sleep with to get top billing.
If you are lucky you produce your own films but it is largely a misogynistic industry.
THEY need to produce fantasy 2b684/7. Good performances are a happy by product if you're lucky.
But that is Hollywood for ya.
For real stories with real attractive humans I would recommend ANYTHING non Hollywood.
I think it is healthier to play the age you are with your ageing face because you should be portraying a person with age appropriate issues, one of which should NOT be spending mental and physical energy pretending to be a 12 year old if you are female or stuck at 35 with nips and tucks if you are male.
Either way, I think Connie Britton is way hotter now than when she was younger. She was cute and pretty then but has seriously raised the bar for actresses who haven't effed up their face and body.

from 1995 and she is the only thing I remember about the film. When she first appeared on the screen I was immediately smitten. She was a beautiful, fresh-faced redhead, and she would have been around 27 or 28 at the time. But while totally gorgeous, she also appeared and seemed like just a "regular" person, as if you would see her in your town tending bar, teaching grade schooljust about anything. Her's was an accessible beauty. I always believed that almost all of Hollywood's young, lead actresses were just b68too perfect. It's as if for every role, no matter the subject matter, the producers would try to get the best looking actress they could find. If you weren't a perfect 10, you were usually a "character" actor, if you found roles at all. Now, of course, there have been exceptions.
While I was ultimately never a HUGE fan of Britton's, I noticed her work, thought she was particularly talented, and she seemed to find good roles. Again, it was refreshing to see a "regular" person find meaningful roles. But I guess no one is immune to the ageism that exists in the industry (sometimes for men, too) and so as Britton aged, there were comments and criticisms. As I wrote before, it must be difficult being a leading actress in Hollywood, because you will always be judged largely by the way you look.
Bottom line, and so as not to write another full-length essay, I'll just say that Connie Britton at almost 50 looks fantastic. If she were to ever have cosmetic surgery, that's obviously none of my business. I just hope she would be happy with the results and that it didn't mar her natural beauty in any way.

Thank you for this! I cannot believe the number of trolls on the Connie Britton boards complaining about her looks. It's crazy. It's like there's something about her that really brings out the anger in some people.

Just a wild guess, and I'm kind of half joking, but I wonder if it might have a lot to do with the "anti-ginger" backlash one finds on t111che internet lately. It's always kind of been around (beat you like a red-headed stepchild, etc.) but it's been growing since the word "ginger" for redhead entered our vernacular, coming over from the UK. That mixed with the advent of internet memes and funny captioned photos, things like that, it just seemed to take off in the last few years. My pre-teen niece and nephew love pointing out "gingers", just so they can use a funny, new word.
Again, I happen to think red-heads can be especially attractive. Not to mention the countless women who go out of their way to color their hair with highlights, or even total color changes, ranging from auburn to strawberry-blonde, or a deep crimson to almost flames of orange! Women wouldn't be doing this if they thought it didn't look good.
But anyway, yeahConnie Britton is a lovely womanand that's all there is to it.
