The Entity by Erin Banks
I would postulate that there may be a fair chance Bundy was trying to pass off blame and pretend he wasn’t fully responsible for his deeds by stating that he had an alter ego that emerged at times.
As we know from the final interview with Christian reverend James Dobson, Bundy didn’t shy away from trying to blame his behavior on pornography either.
It may however also be the case that he did feel his uncontrollable urges were like an “entity.” His urges overpowered his cognition, he was not in control of himself anymore, especially when he went to Florida and escalated as abruptly and violently the way he did.
Bundy himself explained it more than once, regrettably Dr. Otnow-Lewis just didn’t want to listen, insisting on her odd diagnosis of what used to be known as MPD (Multiple Personality Disorder) instead. Said disorder is now labeled DID (Dissociative Personality Disorder) but is complete quackery as almost all clinicians would agree. The diagnosis hasn’t been removed from the DSM5 because voting out – or in – a diagnosis is a very complex, time-consuming endeavor.
Bundy made an effort at explaining that a kill urge is so overwhelmingly strong it can feel like a separate power, however that’s really just a compulsion as any addict knows it, sans all unnecessary supernatural elements
In the end, Bundy was more truthful with agent Bill Hagmaier when he stated that he had “really just wanted to kill.” Except want was – yet again – compulsion. We all know it to some extent, engaging in behavior we know is harmful but that is so tempting and gives us so much satisfaction we cannot abstain. Smoking, drinking, cheating, overeating. They, too, are addictions in their own right though were euphemistically labeled vices. They are all those substances and actions that activate the pleasure center in the brain.

I watched a movie recently about him with Zach Efron playing Bundy. It was quite inciteful, and Efron was quite believable. He was both charming and creepy at the same time. Holding down the image of normalcy, but manipulating like the psychopath he was.
Bundy took it way too far and even if he couldn't help himself, (and while I am not an advocate for the death penalty by any means), he pretty much brought on his own fate by his own hands. It would have been more justified and fitting had he been killed by one of his own victims had they managed to get away.

I should watch that…
I read that Bundy specifically went to Florida because of the death penalty there
