I thought it was so weird that he danced. I first saw him in "Cat Ballou" while my dad was watching it and of course i couldnt just stop halfway so i stayed on to watch till 2amnot fun with a major assessment the next daybut anyhoo I thought he was known for his Cowboy type roles
But then when i bought the complete Gidget DVD series from Ebay and I saw him dance in it i started laughingi thought it was so out of his leaguebut he blew me away, he was great.
I still like him in "Cat Ballou" the most though!

Yeah, my dad said it was Nat "King" Cole's last film, that was sad cause he's just really amazing.
YEah "Cat Ballou" is one of those film's that I can watch over and over and never get bored and always laugh. It's great. When I first bought it on DVD i watched it every night! hehe
The bad thing is, my friends don't like old moviesand I am so in love with old movies, old actors and old musicI swear i was born in the wrong erait's crazy

YepI am the same way when it comes to old movies. I like to look at the sets, clothes, etc. It also gives you an idea of what society and social mores were like when the movies was mad. Sort of like a history lesson. I even like a lot of the silent movies.
Remember the old song: "Born too Late"? It is about a girl that is mooning over a n older guy (both teenagers) who doesn't notice her because she is too young.
Sometimes I feel the same way but not for the same reason.

              Hi,
I just read your post today(1/05/06). Yes, Michael was in West Side Story. I saw that show on Broadway in 1959(my first Broadway show). He was a fantastic dancer!
I have the Gidget movies on DVD and loved him in Gidget Goes Hawaiian. Ahwhat memories
              Maddy

Michael was in the original Broadway version of West Side Story.
As far as being a dancer, Michael won many contests on the old Paul Whiteman talent show and from there went on to West Side Story, ( there is even a book, West Side Story and his name is listed in the cast), If you ever see him, ask him about his 1955 Black T-Bird. If he reads this, I hope his is Well.

Speaking of Mr. Callan's dancing, etc.he actually toured in musical comedy productions or at least one that I know ofmy wife and I saw him in the Cole Porter musical "Anything Goes" in one of the leading roles and he sang and danced in that and extremely well..this was a production in the Summer of 1975 at the ST Louis Municipal Opera, which is a well kown outdoor theater in the Midwest, similar to the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles only bigger..!! I beleive he played the role of Billy Crocker and sang many of the top songs in the productionHe wasn't a young kid at this time, but he carried it off well; you could see the perspiration in his face even from back where we were sittingso it probably was a hot night!!
