The name of the show was Good Morning, Miss Bliss. Not Saved by the Bell. Disney originally named the show Good Morning, Miss Bliss. Disney ended that show and NBC took it over, made some casting changes, then renamed it Saved by the Bell.

Ironically when they show reruns of 'Good Morning, Miss Bliss'its not with that title but changed up using 'Saved By The Bell'. Which is probably why people don't recall it being called that. And for OP originally title was due to the show being centered around Miss Bliss (the teacher) but when they wanted a change to only reflect the studentsshe had to go and title along with her. Wish they would have been smart and kept T.K. ~ he was/is much funnier than that guy who ran the burger joint they hung out at.

I was wondering too why he was not credited. When I was a kid, all I remember were the 'famous' cast of SBTB and did not know some of the original cast along with T.K Carter had to go after the title change.

I agree. He was funnier. I didn't realize it was first called GMMB either because as you noted when they air them, it's shown as Saved By the Bell. Talk about confusion. I never knew it was a separate series but I wondered why they got rid of those characters.
In the instant that we learn Michael is gone, we know nothing.

Not only did they get rid of characters; they moved the entire show from Indiana to California! It would have been smarter of them to never air the Miss Bliss episodes as Saved By the Bell, or at least to edit out the references that completely contradict SBTB continuity.
For example, Zack living right down the street from Jessie and coming home on their bikes after seeing ET.
Zack's parents are divorced on Miss Bliss, but are not on SBTB.
