I never understood why they dropped his character. He was a staple in the show for an entire season and then he's suddenly just gone. I don't think they even explained his absence. Could he have dropped his live action Punky gig for a voice over on Jem? Anyone have any ideas?

I think he got offered the role on Saved By The Bell and that's why he left Punky.
