Totally agree with you on that one - she was great in Teachers. Stumbled across this thread in my mission to discover when the new fourth series starts on Channel Four - any ideas? Would love to b68see her in other roles but would love it even more if she came back in Teachers as Susan, one of my fave characters. Don't get me wrong, I think it's really innovative the way that characters just disappear without any explanation; it fits in really well with the whole slighty unnerving, slighty familiar, completely inexplicable world of the show, but I think that if characters (other than Simon) can just vanish, then they can just as suddenly re-appear as if they've never been away, surely?

I think they can reappear. Didn't Simon do that, after all? But it doesn't seem likely.
Anyway, to answer your question about the new series - it starts on Tuesday October 26th at 10 p.m.
As for Susan reappearing, well, I'm almost sure that Raquel Cassidy ruled that out with this statement during an interview on a BBC Drama website, prior to Series 3:
"Theres a third series of Teachers, but Im not doing it! I was 111csuch a difficult decision because it would be such fun, but I said no. Its much harder to turn things down than people realise. My gut told me that I should do something else and didnt want to be associated with just that for the rest of my life. Ive just bought a flat and wanted to be in rather than doing the commuting to Bristol." -

I just found this thread and was surprised to see that it dates back to 2003! She's a marvellous actress, and thankfully has been given a major role in Downton Abbey the past couple of seasons.
I
still
wish she would get more work, though. And she should get a better publicist: she's the only major character on Downton who doesn't have a photo in her profile! -

She isn't the best actress in the world is the issue. She was great in Lead Baloon and Teachers as her natural style is very well suited to these. Similar actors of equal talent have made a career from playing their niche but Raquel Cassidy has tried to branch out and play a wider variety of roles, which is completely admirable - she however simply does not have the range that others do and as she is no longer in the 'young' casting bracket she is past the point of rebranding herself
