Why is this actress not more well known? Considering her talent and versatility it is surprising that she is not a household name. She is capable of both comedy and serious roles and always turns in an excellent performance. Just look at the list and see how many different characters she has played, each of these, which I have seen, has been a throughly convincing performance and although the characters are different there are some themes which keep occurring. Many of the roles see her as the smarter part of a male/female relationship and often getting the better of the male character e.g. Mel (Lead Balloon) or Susan (Teachers). Equally she is able to portray very emotional characters in difficult situations Petra (Festival) and Jo (Party Animals).
She also has a cool, sophisticated, slinkiness which she seems to bring to these roles and looking at her CV/background she has wider talents than her acting. So why the hell is she not more famous! Smart, funny and sexy is a formidable combination - a triple threat - so why don't we see her in many more high profile lead roles? Maybe the current Moving Wallpaper will bring her to wider public and hence increase her public profile so we can then see more of her? Hopefully this will happen, hopefully she will continue her theatre work and hopefully casting directors and producers will properly recognise her talents and keep on the screen more. -

2 minutes make Nightwatching a very short film

I think she does get good roles, just not enough of them. There could be a thousand reasons for this but I don't think auditions should be the issue. In the DVD extras for Lead Balloon there is a mention that she auditioned at short notice and got the part on the strength of it. So that should not be the reason.
Maybe it is simply that for an actress like her there are not that many parts available, particularily on screen.
The length of time since her last major theatre role is surely evidence that she is concentrating on TV? Evidence is that the list above has lots of TV since her last major theatre role. Surely she could switch back easily if she wanted too?
Moving Wallpaper is great, just wish there was more of her! There must be lots of scope for more scenes with her and Ben Miller's character. -

nah highly overrated, her acting consists of pulling faces so big deal she does face exercises every morning, voice not nearly strong enough for professional actress, average sitcom performer and when she does those evrybody thinks shes cool

Well you are entitled to your opinion, but I stand by my comments. I think she's great.
I think it is unfair to judge here by her sitcoms/minor roles alone. I feel any performer/artist should be judged by their strongest work. In the case of RC this would be Festival and her theatre roles (IMHO).
I also think there is probably more to the craft of acting than pulling faces. -

The bit about the audition is on the commentary for one of the episodes. Agree that there is not very much about her character which I think is important to the show.
Nuanced is a great word to describe her acting:)
