Andrew Garfield and Adam Driver had to lose some weight for the Scorsese movie and Henry Cavill has been clear he doesn't want to lose anything for a movie. His lack of ambition is so disappointing! i've never seen an actor that lacks so much ambition than Henry Cavill, it's amazing ! but who knows ? maybe he's taking some acting lessons !

Actually I think he said he wouldn't gain weight for a role, it sounds like him. He seems arrogant at times. Gaining weight or doing anything that uglies him down is something I don't think he would do because all he has for Hollywood are his looks.
I think he would benefit greatly with an acting coach and in the meantime pick up some Indie's, be a supporting actor, as long as the role has meat on it. He has to work for it to be Bond worthy.
AND-Where are all these movies that he is in that makes him too busy to do other roles?
I am willing to bet money that is JL fails, WB will not be making another Supes movie. Ben will continue with Batman but things are looking bleak for HC.
I have been rooting for him but I think he is happy where he is at.

I actually like that he's taking a "no weight gain/no weight loss" stance approach. I've read of how doing such can affect an actor's health.
Hell, Chris Pine was brave enough to bluntly state that packing on alot of muscle is just not good for the liver.
And let's not forget Henry has done both: lost weight for his first role, probably loss weight for Immortals, and gained weight/muscle mass for Man Of Steel. So, really, he probably speaks from experience.

He does not have that stance, he will bulk up and put on as much muscle as possible and get extremely lean (Immortals) so you can see every muscle in his body.
What he said he won't do is GAIN weight (fat) for a role, he won't do anything that compromises his looks.
Obviously putting on a lot of fat for a role is not good for but 10 or 20 pounds would not hurt him if it was for a good role. He just doesn't seem to care that much.
Most extremely attractive actors purposely took "ugly" roles in the beginning of their careers in order to prove that they can act and are not just another pretty face. Brad Pitt did Kalifornia, Tom Cruise did Born on the 4th of July (he did a great job in that movie) Christian Bale did The Machinist and American Hustle. You get the point.
He does not even have to gain/lose weight to take an ugly role. I just cannot see HC even playing a gay guy because he seems to have this image that he wants to uphold, physically.
He really needs to work on his acting and take more chances.
I am tired of mega-fans saying he is not getting roles because he is too hot, that is ridiculious.
But hey if he is happy then who am I to complain? I just wanted to see him have a good long career in Hollywood.
But1908 if he wants to ride on his looks, the take the money and run when they go downhill then ok, I think it is a waste ut it is his life.

Someone stated on this board that Henry said he wouldn't want to do a sequel to immortals because he'd have to shed pounds for it.

I agree with you. I don't think his "ridiculously good looks" have anything to do with his inability to get roles. The thing I've noticed with casting is that agents or casting producers like to put their clients or actors into a box. When I see Henry Cavill, I truly do not know what to make of him, outside of Superman, and this was long before he was cast as Superman.
I don't see action hero (like Schwartzenegger) Cold Light of Day have shown that. He lacks the charisma, if he's going to be a weak actor, he needs to at least have some charisma.
He did good playing the playboy in The Tudors but for some reason, I don't pick up that vibe when I see him outside of that show maybe it's an age thing.
I can see him playing the innocent or naive type who ends up saving the day or whatever the flick asks for, like he was in Laguna, Immortals, Blood Creek and Superman, but he's too old for that now.
I think it's hard to cast Cavill because he doesn't show much personality in his acting or in his promotional stuff. He's just kind of going through the motions. I was shocked by his portrayal Napoleon Solo, but outside of suave, the character still lacked the charisma and all the requirements necessary in making a successful actor. I think Armie Hammer did a good job of grabbing the viewer and stole the show to be honest. I like Henry, but I do think he's a bit stiff and needs to loosen up more in his roles.
Thankfully5b4, he is as pretty as he is, but I'm sure there are plenty of hotter guys working at local joints in LA, dying to be famous. Looks can only carry you so far well, unless your a woman in the industry. -

Its unhealthy to live on an apple and a can of tuna or to eat 5000 calories a day.
I dont think Henrys stance on weight gain/loss has anything to do with being ugly. They can make him ugly another way. Henry disagrees with the link between an actors ability to lose weight for a role and his success in that part. Paraphrasing
Unless the script was very good, I would say no, he told Mens Fitness magazine. If it were something I really cared about and I really wanted to have, like, an effect on an audience because its subject matter thats very, very important to me, and I wanted to get it out there, then yeah, I could see myself doing it. Otherwise, no.
"Im not going to be like, Hey, Im going to do a big fat-man role or a really skinny role because thats what all the big actors do these days! he continued. Im not going to choose work to make people go, Oh, wow, he can really act because he can lose lots of weight!
Henry is not the only one with a no weight gain/loss stance. Cillian Murphy had to lose 25 pounds, but he wont do it again. Hollywood may be under the impression that dropping weight equals Oscar success. Paraphrasing
"Going to bed hungry is not something I want to do again," he says, although he is reluctant to address exactly how much weight he lost.
"The story has to justify it. There's no point getting skinny just to win awards.
Jennifer Lawrence said she will never starve herself for a role. -

Do you want to play Bond? I tend to see your name on a lot of these wish lists, although Im sure theyre just sort of dreaming up any and all talented Brit actors who look the part.
You know, theres a saying amongst us in the fraternity of acting, and in the fellowship of my peer group, that if you talk about it youre automatically out of the race. So I cant possibly comment on that one! If I mention it, its gone. But Chris Nolan, what a fantastic director for a Bond movie. Because Daniel [Craig] is so good, and what [Sam] Mendes and Barbara [Broccoli] have done has been so impressive, that it would be a very hard reimagination to follow after. I wonder what the next installment of that franchise would become, and I think when you mention someone like Christopher Nolan, thats a very powerful figure to bring into that world who could bring something new and create something profoundagain.

I don't really like Cavill. He looks good, but he's been Superman as well and I don't think he's the greatest actor around. He's too dry like Craig.
I like Tom Hardy, but not sure if he's quite the right look, yet Richard Madden is a looker and he CAN act.
Norman! What did you put in my tea?
