Thanks for creating this thread Laur-El. I hope you don't mind if I hitch a ride here.
I haven't been here as long as some of you other dedicated HC fans have been, and I certainly wasn't as active either, but I did (still do and will do so until the board closes) check in occasionally to catch up on HC news.
I'm sorry to hear of the boards closing, I hope it's temporary until the people at IMDB figure out how to make it a better & safe place for movie fans to hang out and share thoughts and their love of movies and their fave actors. I know I've learnt a lot about movies, the movie industry and celebritydom from reading the boards and engaging with the members here. Some of yous do know your stuff
So here's to all of you -

I have been a lurker here since seeing Henry in The Count of Monte Cristo and have seen many fans come and go and have enjoyed reading so many discussions and learning more and more about this insanely handsome guy. Shout out to the early days posters like Aquariana, Cyloncutie, Salt and Limes, etc. I remember you guys back when things were fun. So long message boards!

I really did enjoy reading everyone's post, as well as conversing with you all(regardless of whether or not I agreed with you).
It's sad that we won't get to discuss anything related to Henry Cavill, anymore. Hopefully, we can all find discussion boards that are just as good.
You all take care. -

I think many people will feel a bit bereft once these boards close, especially us folk who have been members for 10 years plus. There is no better place to discuss HC than with the posters here and, even when I didn't post myself, I still enjoyed reading everyone's comments. Luckily, there are alternative places to carry on discussing HC so it's not all bad news.

IM neither shocked nor sad that IMDb is closing down the boards. However, Im kind of shocked that the board means so much to some people, especially now that HC seems active on his IG/FB.
Anyway, Im not shocked that IMDb decided to close the boards. With the boards, it lured millions of people so it could be the film site with the most registered and active users. Now that it became a multi million dollar site, it doesnt need the hassle of all the free users anymore.
Anyway, if they had closed the boards when my kids were babies, Id have been sad. I came here looking for a way to kill time, after I had my first kid. But now that they arent babies anymore, I started working normal back. So I constantly must make time and rush over here to post.
Thank goodness, HC decided to make and FB/IG. Im sure he will post about his new projects on them. He just announced about a new project with the beautiful Alexandra Daddario.
So whenever I have time, Ill check his SMp to see WTH hes up to. Hopefully, I don't have to make an SMp of my own to be able to see what he posts.
Having said all that, I expected IMDb to close the boards, not because of trolls, but because of people who are unable to ignore what faceless strangers on a board have to say.
IMDb has millions of users on thousand of boards with only a handful of people to monitor the whole thing. If people dont report every thing written on the board, the adm. wont know WTH is going on on the boards. But people kept reporting. They cant skip the trolls or put them on ignore. A few people want the board to be their little kindergarten playground.
Back in the days, people would left and new ones would fill the empty space. But unlike back in the days, many people left the board permanently or just drop by once in a while.
Anyway, WTH did the people who keep reporting thought would happen when IMDb realizes that it cant control the boards? If they cant control it, they will close it down. Is not like they need the boards anymore.
Its pretty obvious that IMDb cant fully control the boards. But they tried by giving people the ignore button. But instead of using the ignore button to ignore posters they dont like, they ignored the ignore button.
Ah, well. Just for the last time Ill go post some replies on some threads.http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i58/atenderflower/Colin Farrell/cancun2.jpg
