Like I said before, he was a great musician, I will give him that, I respect his music as well, but it's hard to repsect a persons music when they can be such a horrible person. While he was married he had 23 girlfriends, some of you may be thinking "Oh he's a pimp" but I don't see it that way. I will tell you right now, I'm a very lonely person, I would do anything to have a girlfriend, and he took advantage of it, he took advantage of being rich and famous, thats what it all boils down to, you struggle through life trying to be something you desperately want to be, and then once you get there, you lose sight of everything you worked for. I can honestly say that it would never happen to me, I wouldn't let it. Thats all I'm saying.

I really hate it when people who never knew Ray Charles make judgments about him. Ray Charles was always honest with his girlfriends which is a lot more than I can say for a lot of men who are "faithful" to their wives. Further, Ray Charles was a sweet, kind, caring man, who went out of his way and took the time to be sensitive to the needs and emotions of the people in his life. He was brilliant, not just at music, but highly self-educated and wise. He was always knowlegable about what was going on in the world, and somehow, always managed to be up to date. It really cracks me up when people who have obviously accomplished nothing in their entire lives, think they have a pulpit from which to preach down against Ray Charles. If you want to express your negativity about a person, why don't you choose a subject on which you actually know something - like yourself!
[p.s. I do know a lot about the subject of Ray Charles - he is the father of my youngest son, Corey, and was also my beloved significant other of 29 years.] -

DId anyone say he was a god? no they did not, he was a musical genius (yes i know you already said that), he over came alot. He did sdo drugs and cheated on his wives.hmmm no offense but about 90% of musical artist do drugs or cheat on their spouses, hate to say it, but its true. in my opinion i think he deserves our respect, but remember that in my opinion you can have your own

I can honestly disagree with you that it would never happend to youhow can you seriously say that when you haven't even acheived anything that comes close to what ray charles has done? I'll bet you'll feel alot different once you've experienced even the smell of success.. Success can be a very tricky and ugly thing even if it's also what we dream about and should keep on b68reaching out for it. But success can do some great deal of changes to one person, I haven't experienced it but if seen it do terrible things to people I know or knew. It's easy to criticize someone when you haven't walked in their shoes. I know Im a little late to respond but I just have to say this. and joe, if you ever so desperatly want a girlfriend, turn off your computer, stop trashing people you don't know and get a life. And I can tell you that relationships aren't all sunshine and lollipops like you see on tv, which might also be the reason for ray's affairs.

Ray was a person, who had many battles in his life. All of us do. God created us, to give us a purpose, and we, as humans need to fulfil that purpose. Maybe all of us don't believe in God. I know that not everyone on the planet believes there is a God. Anyway, back to Ray
Yes, I respect him greatly. Despite the fact he cheated, did drugs, and similar things, he was also a man, who loved God very greatly.
See you in Heaven, Ray.

I swear you people just don't listen do you? Try reading before you relpy to things or you may just end up looking stupid. I HAVE SAID ON MORE THEN ONE OCCASION, THAT I HAVE RESPECT FOR HIS MUSIC, YOU ALL ARE SITTING THERE TELLING ME THAT HE IS THE REASON FOR THIS AND THAT, I KNOW THAT, AND I HAVE RESPECT FOR HIS MUSIC, BUT THAT DOESN'T JUSTIFY WHAT HE DID. I RESPECT HIS MUSIC, AS FOR HIM, I DON'T, THERE IS A BIG DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HIM AND HIS MUSIC, HIS MUSIC WAS VERY RESPECTABLE, BUT HE WASN'T NOW DO YOU PEOPLE UNDERSTAND WHAT I'M TRYING TO SAY BECAUSE I DON'T KNOW IF I CAN SPELL IT OUT FOR YOU MORE THEN THIS. READ TWICE BEFORE YOU REPLY.

I hear ya SlimShady852003. My DH and I watched the movie Ray last night, and we were both shocked by the lack of morals and disrespect he seemed to have for his wife because of all the many girlfriends he had. I'm sorry, but that movie did nothing to make him look like a 'good' person. Sure his music was alright, but his life was terrible You can say 'you don't know him personally' but if i got that opinion from a public movie about his life it doesn't really say much for him.
