Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Stephen Colbert

I'm a fan of Stephen Colbert since the beginning, and I was really happy to see his old show Colbert report had in many ways stealed the thunder of Jon Stewart. Because that's only means more great show for me
But about his new show, I can only think about one word to describe it- slacking. I can never forget the one in which he calls a turkey hot line for three times and call it a day and the one his spend good amount of his time to complain about his sandwich.
Now days a show would be like this, he complains about some food then stays simile while the audinece cheering up for about 5 mins then ask that pianist how did he spend his weekend, then finally when he is about to talk about something, you bet
there will be tons of repeated visual effect and sometimes he just talk about his own show or pull a staff and chat with him or her
the real time he spend talking on this "talk show" is unbelievable little, and I agree he has the crisma to pull it off, but if he started as this he's never going to get where
he is today. It seem to me that he begin to cashing in his fame and personality, you
could say he's really became a standard late night talk show host on his own will maybe, or it's the wonderful work of his marking team.
He has already became a legend in the takeshow world and he should try new ways to step up his game, the problem I see is that he's not trying.

I have a feeling like 90& of the writers behind the colbert report left the show - so you only have 10% humor left and the rest is utter beep
