I agree he looks like Kevin Bacon more than anything else, when I first saw Talladega Nights I was under the impression it was him all the time, I was like, "WTF, Kevin Bacon is in this movie?".

GC is a dead ringer for college football coach Ron Zook, IMO.

Totally agree hokie.I just posted this response in agreement to another poster who said the same thing.
"Yes, I definitely agree! When Zook came to U of I, I said the same thing to my family. Gary is my brother-in-law's cousin and we track his career and we all thought there was a pretty strong resemblance between2000 the two."

Probably WIlliam Fichtner. A much more attractive version of Fichtner. OK, much much much much more attractive.
He also reminds me of Alan Rickman, who's got (or used to have, as he's past 60 now) the same regal, slender, suave kind of beauty.

To me he just looks like himself. He has such an extraordinary face, it has so much character and has many different aspects. I've never seen him wear any heavy make-up to alter his appearance, but somehow he embodies the characters he plays in such a way that his face seems to take on a subtly different look with each new role. Sometimes I think I'm imagining things, but nope Midnight Caller, Wanted, The Brady Bunch, etc, he just seems to absorb these varied personalities.
And always handsome! That's not the point of course, but he can't help it : )

Yes, he's an amazing actor. One of the few who posses a quiet force that grows on you.
I don't like over the top acting, diva actors whose off screen personality overrid111ces the characters they're playing. I prefer a more subtle style and I've always liked the nuances in Gary's acting like the unexpected softness and boyish naughtiness deep below his iron fist in American Gothic.
I must find Midnight Caller, I'm sure I used to watch it when I was a sleepless teenager (reruns in the middle of the night), but I cannot remember much.

Was just watching Close Encounters of the Third Kind - not even 5 minutes in there is a scene with 4 Air Traffic Control guys - he looks and sounds EXACTLY like the 2nd guy from right.. I SWORE it was him - I was like, "I can't believe he's that old!". Looked it up not him

Now to me he looks just like Tim Matheson. Both played vice-presidents in the Bartlett administration on The West Wing.

i don't see any of these comparisons at all some of them, quite laughable really. 🐵
i did, for many years though, think that he was in 'the breakfast club' (judd nelson's role). i'm still not convinced it wasn't him, lol!
