I haven't seen him in much, but he was sure good in "For My Daughter's Honor". If the real Coach Nash was anything like him, no wonder the wide-eyed innocent fifteen year old fell hard for him. Heady stuff to be pursued by a charismatic, handsome, well-liked older man who's telling you that you're special.
Or even one your own age, for that matter.

I love Gary in Talladega Nights as Reese Bobby. Someone wrote they saw the movie and didn't even recognize him as the actor who played Lumberge in Office Space. But as funny as he is, and as poignant as his performance is at times (and he steals the movie in my opinion), he isn't on screen long enough.
I'll vote for The Brady Bunch because he's fraking hilarious as Papa Brady in that screwy wig, perfectly channeling Robert Reed's tv persona. It takes a magnificently talented actor to pull off that performance. How did he ever keep a straight face speaking those lines?
"Loyalty counts. . ." Lucas Buck

                  You should also enjoy
                  Lies He Told
                  and
                  Santa Fe
as well then. But his sexiest role to date is tv's Lucas Buck in
                  American Gothic
imo, available on dvd (it lasted just one season). After that, try tv series
                  Crusade
                  .

Forgtting TV shows on which he has played, and OFFICE SPACE (which he will frankly never top), sticking strictly to movies he has done, I give him a big thumbs up for playing stone cold killer Jeffrey McDonald in 1984's TV-movie, FATAL VISION. Also, who can ever forget his Mr. Brady in the first BRADY BUNCH movie? I was slightly put off by the movie becaue of its arch homosexual orientation, but he was brilliant in it.

He was funny in Office Space and Brady Bunch, but my first introduction to his exceptional talent was in more serious roles so I still prefer those to his comedic turns.
I was just recently able to see him in Son of the Morning Star and I'll have to say that is one of my preferred roles he's undertaken, he played it to the hilt. That movie as well as Fatal Vision, Indecent Seduction and his roles in American Gothic and Midnight Caller show him at his best with characters and production well suited to his subtle talent.
He's not a scene chewer and that may be why he's so underrated, but when the writing and production's good and he's playing men not meant to be overtly good or bad, he's at his best.

I've liked him in everything I've seen him in. When one thinks about all his roles, he really is a stunningly diverse actor.
With that in mind, I'd have to say his best that I've seen is Son of the Morning Star. He was outstanding in it.

He's very good in his latest film, The Joneses, where he plays a very sad and lonely character. He really makes you feel for the guy.

Haven't seen the Joneses, but it's on my list.
Gary has done many good movies. I haven't seen all, but I really loved A Simple Plan. I sa16d0w it when it first came out and I spent all the movie thinking "Where is he?!?!". LOL quite a surprise.
He's not a scene chewer and that's why I like him so much. I hate actors who overact, really cannot stand it when the offscreen persona overrides the on screen character.
Gary possesses a more subtle and quiet force and he slowly draws you into his web. I've always liked him a lot, but I think I became a huge fan with American Gothic. My oh my, there has never been a character like Lucas Black. Not ever. He starts as the classic bad guy and at the end of the show he has seduced all his audience into liking him. I haven't found a single person who was not cheering for him in the end.
Crusade was quite good too, I loved his character. And I like the fact that Gary has the dashing looks of the classic American Hero, but he basically can turn into everyone he wants. That's called talent 🙂 and it's way better than being a movie star.
