Sam's #1 hit song "You Send Me" would be an excellent title for Sam Cooke's biopic big screen movie. My # 1 choice to play his character would be Terron Brooks. Anyone remda0ember him? He's a semi-fresh face.He played Eddie Kendricks's character in the made for television movie The Temptations. Terron Brooks is perfect b/c he can sing, dance, extremely handsome, he's 30 years old give or take a year, and very charismatic. He appears to be Sam Cooke's height and weight.
As a HUGE Sam Cooke fan, I have to admit I'd be dissapointed if Usher was chosen. No offense against him, he just wouldn't be my pick. I love Denzel so mmuch, but he lacks a certain charisma. The age issue doesn't bother me. Don Cheadle should definitely play a role, but not Sam Cooke's character. Maybe Cheadle could play Lou Rawls character. Rawls sang back up to Cooke's B-side hit "Bring it Home". Good Grief, I love that song. Anywho, attached is a picture of Terron Brooks. Try to imagine this handsome hunk without the goatee aand I think he would portray and excellent Sam Cooke.
Hey, If I could be in this movie, I could definitely portray his wife Barbara.shoot, I'd even settle for playing one of his many groupies!!!

I wouldn't use a change is gonna come because that would seem to common, I mean after his song in 64' alot things-like books and cds- have been named like that title. It should be one of his songs though.

Really don't know who should play him
But I think It should either be
"A Change is gonna come"
or
"Lord, Remember me" The latter being more poignant* (sorry for spelling) because few too many people relly appreciate and understand his genius, let alone talk about him.
"Tired Baby. Tired." -

My pick would be Denzel Washington, cause they look a bit alike, only problem is that he's almost 50 and he's starred in so many big movies already and is a well known face to almost everyone. Jamie Foxx would be a decent choise, but since he already portrayed Ray Charles it would be impossible to do Sam Cooke aswell. Maybe Mekhi Phifer or Terrence Howard or some relativetely unknown actor would be even better perhaps.
If someone is going to make a movie of Sam's life I really wonder however how his mysterious death will be portayed or if it will be at all. Read this link about it. It's very good. http://clarkkauffman.tripod.com/id32.htm -

Soljagurl2003. Never heard Wesley Johnathan him before this thread. Took a look at his picture. The resemblance to Sam is amazing. Assuming he's a good actor/performer I can see no one else playing Sam now if there were a movie made. If he said he was Sam's son I'd totally believe him.

Wesley Jonathan would do good as a younger version. Just take a look at these photos for comparison

However Blair Underwood would do well also for an older version. It all depends on what age they focus on, though both starring would be better. -

Denzel 16d0is TOO OLD. I repeat TOO OLD.
Sam Cooke was in his 20s when he recorded You Send Me.
How could Denzel play him. Let's be creative for once and not assume Denzel should play all real life black heroes.
There are so many actors in America who can do this. Wesley Jonathan is still my number one choice. -

A man in his fifties cannot be expected to play a man who started his career at 20 and passed away at only 33, no matter how much he resembles him. Let's be realistic. And by the time the movie got made Denzel would probably be about 60. It aint gonna happen.
Goss. Look at a picture of Wesley Johnathan. He even smiles like Sam. And he's still in his 20s. -

Sorry Guys The man who should play Sam Cooke is Randy j. Goodwin , the Man has the chops and the expertise and resum'e to play The greatest singer in History and I might add He has access to the best technical advisors on Sam's demeanor and life history.
An actor is NEEDED for this part Not a Singer.. -

I hear what you're saying gregjall. I have yet to see Ralph or Wesley perform. I'm going purely on looks at this stage. I need to check out their work as I realise that bringing Sam's persona to life is more important than looking like him.
I do however think age must be considered. Randy is 40 next year. But I admit, he looks good in his IMDB photos.
I also agree that Sam is a Giant in music history. So life and performing experience are key factors here.
ok im too much of his fan
