These boards should not have only two posts to date. Sam Cooke was excellent.

I don't know too many of his songs. I like "Another Saturday Night" the best. "Chain Gang" is good. I also like "You Send Me," though I'm not sure what he meant by that.

Yes, he is a complete legend. He wrote almost all of his tunes.
In the 60s some of the biggest soul artists covered his songs.
Otis Redding - "A change is gonna come", "Shake"
                  The Supremes - "Shake"
Sam & Dave - "Soothe me", "Bring it on home to me"
                  My favourite Sam songs are:
BRING IT ON HOME TO ME
                  SHAKE
                  WONDERFUL WORLD

It's good to see another person has joined us at the Sam Cooke board. Welcome.
That Cat Stevens cover was horrible. That guy should be ashamed for butchering such a great song.
It's good to see you, again adeel. I saw you posted at the Amrish Puri board.

I'm happy to be here bumping up this Sam thread.
Sam could do it all! He could make you dance with songs like Twistin and Shake and fall in love afterwards to tunes like Bring it on home, You Send Me and Wonderful World.

^u forgot his greatest work " a change is gonna come" the best political song ever , after maybe bob dylan, and thanks for notcing Marricino on the the amrish puri boared he was a good actor who worked hard thorughout his life, which films did u like of his?
anywayz, long live the legacy of sam cooke , THERE SHUD BE A MOVIE!! of his life just like ray charles, and sam cooke his movie would be more militant due to his un time-ly deatch, but by judging by malcolm x/the hurricane, and other black activist movies, it wudnt be a true repensentaion
anywayz i advice u both to download :" a change is gonna come" by sam cooke, OR we shud do a convo on msn 😄 and i can sed it
anwayz ive been blabing on toooo long
                          peace

I downloaded "A Change is Gonna Come" a few weeks ago. It is a great song; probably my second-favorite of Sam's.
My favorite would have to be "Another Saturday Night." I heard the Cat Stevens cover last night, and my ears are still bleeding. Only Sam Cooke could make that song great.
Oh, as for Amrish Puri, I only saw him in the Indiana Jones movie. He gave a great performance. I was saddened by his passing and thought I should pay my respects on his page at IMDb. I want to see more of his work.

okay so cat stevens cover wasnt good, but i like cat stevens own songs "like peace train" and "the wind"
yeh most of amrish puri work was in hindi but not all, i think he had a minor role in the film gahndi - a bad film for me because it showed the founder of my counrty in bad light and was historicaly inccorenct ANYWAYZ LOLLL before i get all polical lol ill stop here
anywayz, i think we should make more threads on the sam cooke board , or atleast try 2 😄
peace guys !! dam i got school tom 😄

I don't hate Cat Stevens. I'm no expert on his music. Everybody makes mistakes and he made a mistake with his cover of "Another Saturday Night." I don't want to make it sound as if I have anything personal against Cat Stevens so that's about all I'm going to say regarding his cover.
By the way, most movies about history are historically incorrect. That's one reason I'm against the making of most of them.
Yeah, I have to go to school too.

I knew someone that bought his album!! He's a legend, again similar to Otis Redding, he died very young!! He was the original R Kelly! When R Kelly singing songs like Turn Back The Hands Of Time, I hear Sam Cooke's voice as well because they are very similar!!
