    Mike,
My book's not in any bookstores in Ohio just yet, but I'm working on it. If you do order my book from ourunclesam.com, remind me you're the Mike from IMDb and I'll make sure I autograph something special for you.
As kids tease you, just rememeber that it's YOU that's something special. Sam's voice is unique and his sound has been known to captivate young and old alike. If you can recognize the beauty of his music at a young age, just understand you walk in very special company. Read an excerpt from my forward (http://www.ourunclesam.com/author.html) and understand I was the same way! One of the most popular members of Sam's Fan Club is a college student who had been a die-hard fan since her early teens. As a matter of fact, when I want to verify facts about Sam's more obscure works, I often turn to her for her expertise.
Wear you appreciation of Sam's music like a badge of honor. Years later when all the hip-hop/rap artists are forgotten about (and I love both of those genres myself), Sam's music will STILL be appreciated.
And I'm not sir. I'm Erik.

Supposedly there's been a movie in the works, on and off, for the past 20 years or so. But since the recent success of "Ray" and "Walk the Line," I wouldn't be surprised if one was coming soon. Will it tell the total truth? That remains to be seen

              Dear Mr. Greene,
When I first heard it suggested that a movie about your uncle's life be made, I welcomed the news. However, after giving it some further thought, I'd have to say that I am against the idea-unless the movie is done as a documentary. What are your thoughts?

I expressed my thoughts about a Sam Cooke movie in my September 15th response in the "Murdered!" section. We think along the same lines.

Certainly no one sings like Sam! But to answer your question, Kathy, not professionally.

                        Kathy,
Sam has four grandchildren that live in Philadelphia, and they have beautiful voices. If you want to get a sample of what the twin girls sound like, take a listen to this:

                        Enjoy!

The pictures were taken from the Sam Cooke Fan Club Tribute held in Chicago this past September. The next one is scheduled to be in the Spring of 2008 in a site yet to be determined, but I'll keep you posted.
The gentleman singing in the cream-colored suit jacket is Gerald Alston, lead singer of the Manhattans. He's a huge Sam Cooke fan and has donated his talents at the last few Tributes.

Greeting Erik just like to say im a fan of that wonderful voice. Sam Cooke is one of my fave vocalists including two other great perfomers of that era Jackie Wilson & Otis Redding. Im 19 & live in Wales it is reassuring and most pleasing that Sam still has a big worldwide fan base just like to thank you for the music sam.

I have been a fan of your great-uncle for quite a number of years. He was one great entertainer who was taken from us too soon. From the smooth hits like "You Send Me" to the rockers like "Shake," he was great. I have been especially interested in him since I found out that he died the very day (month, day, AND year) I was born.

Then you have a true connection! He was an amazing artist, to say the least. Those two songs, like most of his major hits, were songs he wrote. "Shake," "It's Got the Whole World Shakin'," and "Yeah, Man" (which Arthur Conley had to admit in court he stole and turned into "Sweet Soul Music") were all written by Sam and exhibited a new direction he planned for Soul music.
